I'll let Ho Sang play at least a year before I give anyone praise for a job well done. I know not everyone can turn all lemons into lemonade but I'm failing to see any good job being done with our prospects in a very long time unless you consider Bracken Kearns a success story.

On JHS Cpt., Thompson kicked him in the ass and made him grow up.
Now does that mean he's a success and Thompson made him who he is or taught him his skill absolutely not. But he busted the kids ass and it seemed to have worked as far as his attitude and I think that's all he really lacked. Now have you forget Allen Quine As far as success stories?

Carinsy was the guy who made JHS run steps when he came late to practice so Carins did that. Other than that? I think he was one of Snows buddies pure and simple.

If you are going to bring up the 2008 draft you HAVE to mention that the guy Snow was KILLED for passing up on and moving down was Filatov... when he moved down again it was Luke Schenn. He took some long shot pics with the extra picks gained. One was Petrov.. one was Hamonic (I think). Hamonic is far better IMO than Luke Schenn. ... and Bailey clearly a better player than Filatov who is not in NHL. Both of those were solid draft picks in grand scheme and add Matt Martin, Spurgeon and a few guys who played 50 or so games in NHL.. it was a very good Draft. (why we did not give Spurgeon a contract I have no idea. It leads me to believe if we did he never would have made the team anyway.. we had stellar Veteran d-men like Eaton and Mattau who would have been ahead of him on the Capuano chart. (.. See Ryan fken Pulock last year).

2009 we obviously got JT with first pick.. no brainer
Moved up to grab DeHaan... can't have issues with that..

I did not like the 2 goalies in a row after that and still don't.. but Casey in the 4th round and Anders Lee in the 6th makes this draft an A+ rating.

In hind sight I'd rather Cizikas never have been selected then be handcuffed to his albatross of a contract.

his contract is slightly aggressive.. he is only 26 and at 3 mill a year it is hardly an albatross. You want to see an albatross look at Rangers and Flyers roster. Nash 8.2mil, Staal 6 mill, Girardi 5 mill, Stepan 7 mill, Giroux 9 mill, Amack 5+ mill..

our albatross IMO is Grabovski and possibly Boychuk in the near future. 3 mill should not be upsetting the apple cart.

Cizikas and Clutterbuck have awful contracts.

Maybe not franchise-altering-bad, but to have $7M tied up in 2/3 of your 4th line is utterly atrocious.

It's franchise altering when you can't sign a potential game changer bcs you're blowing 3.3 million per on a role player. It's bad management no matter how you reason it especially for a player who I like but is just not worth it. Liking a player doesn't increase his salary or I should say it shouldn't but in an orginization run on nepotism these things happen.

2007 was an awful draft mainly b/c we gave all our picks away for sht.

2006 we got one of I think only about 8 all stars in that draft in Okposo. if you look at that draft it was a pretty poor draft.

2010 Brock and Nino is not a terrible draft. I really wanted Skinner in that draft and will hate forever we did not draft him .. but

2011- Strome is still very young and I still think He might be what I hoped when We drafted him... now that Capuano is gone.

When we have actually have a hard time b/c we are at the cap limit I will agreed with u... it has never been an issue with this team and when I look in the future and the mix of young kids who will push to make this team.. and contracts coming off the books I don't see an issue.

I'd rather pay $6 million for J.Staal's 15-20 goals than $3.4 mill for Cizikas' 8.

We have the second-least amount of cap space in the entire league, behind the best team of this generation. Is that good enough?

Yeah but only $35 million tied up for 2018-19!

...and only 9 guys on the roster under contract...

3 of which will be over the age of 31: Ladd, Clutterbuck and Boychuk combined make $15 million.

Stop with the Snow bashing ..enough already it is what it is. you stated that its all a crap shoot. it happens Remember who Alex Daigle was? Every team has its draft failures. If Guentzel were held off the scorers sheet this would be a mute point

Grabovski will give them a little bit of relief if they LTIR him, but their cap situation is garbage right now. Hopefully Snow throws a 2nd rounder at McPhee to take Clutterbuck or Cizikas of their hands.

http://stats.nhlnumbers.com/teams/NYI?year=2018 yes and we have 6 mill that can be put on LTIR any minute u need it.. doesn't accumulate so why bother until that time. you also have about 25 mil coming off the cap next year with Halak, Kulemin, Grab, Hickey, Chimera, and Seidenberg.. take that and the 6 mill JT already is making .. make him 10 mill and u still have plenty of cap room. We have very young prospects that will be on the team. That will help immensely with Cap issues. ... again.. We .. Are... Fine!

Garth just needs to focus on trades and stay away from UFA's. Do not even bother this year. Get that 2C and try to move a contract.

$5M that can be put on LTIR. And that would only afford us $3M in wiggle room to exceed the cap (at this point in time).

Lots of money coming off the books next year, about $34.5M in total.

Give $10M of that to JT.

That leaves us with $24.5M to sign a goaltender, at least 3 defensemen, and around 7 forwards.

That's bad. Really bad. We are not fine, at all. Snow has a ton of work to do and I don't have a lot of faith that he'll do it well.

Unlikely, since Snow was the guy who negotiated those contracts. He obviously values those two players higher than you do.....

Edit: Or I do, for that matter.

Casey and Cal are going nowhere. Would be nice to move Kulemin to Vegas. Even that might be too much to expect?
