And yet the Flyers outscored the opposition over a six year period at 5 on 5 with him on the ice, in addition to all his PP points. - Feanor
Just a quick question: Does his -13 - rating stem from 13+ SH and EN goals against? I know that "5v5" and "even strength" aren't the same thing, somehow. |

Bill Meltzer: Musings: Drouin Trade Rumor Doesn't Add Up, Quick Hits - bmeltzer
For me, it's simple. While we are thin on LW and Drouin might be the better player, Konecny hasn't proven to be pre Madonna (I'm hoping the sang goes). Maybe it's possible Drouin turns out to be a points machine. I think Drouin's ability to be a good teammate is in question and I think he has a sense of self entitlement.
I would welcome John Drouin here but not at the expense of Travis Konecny. |

If you're honest, not one of those kids mentioned in the Flyers prospect pool have Drouin's skill level C'mon now. Patrick or Nico do but the others, not from what I've seen. All the kids you mentioned the Flyers already have are closer to grinder types, Drouin is a scorer IMO |

My BPI when he was on the ice was tops in the neighborhood over that same time period. - Scoob
He was particularly handsome at that age, so I wouldn't feel bad about that.

This is exactly who I expect Konecny to become. So I'm keeping him. |

I'm not going to disagree but where are you catching the Swedish Elite League games to make that evaluation of Lindblom? |

And bill mentioned that pat Fallon and A.daige were basically busts, but the same could be said for Patrick or Nico, who knows? But Druin would look good in Philly imho, then trade Claude G.to montreal? |

Would rather trade a player like Simmonds for Drouin than prospects.
Drouin seems like he'll be a solid top line guy, but I'd rather keep the quantity of prospects right now and downsize later when we have a better understanding of team need.
I'm also very much against helping Yzerman avoid cap hell like many teams have done the past few years (Flyers included) |

As much as I hate the Pens and Patriots, I've really come to respect the Machiavellian methods these franchises use to achieve greatness. Rules are bent and conventions are breached all in the name of winning.
It's a late-stage capitalism world folks. There is no participation trophy or Nobel prize for doing things the right way. The results are either achieved or failed. Do whatever possible. There should not be some misplaced pride in following unwritten rules in order to feel worthy.
Are these cups the Pens are winning somehow less valuable due to the methods they've employed? What about the Patriots super bowl wins? I don't think so. No one cares now and no one will in the future when their legacies are etched in stone. - StepfordSam
I get what you're saying, but I value integrity higher than "winning" in any area of life. I wouldn't want the Eagles to have won a bunch of Super Bowls by cheating the way the Patriots did. And while I hope the Sixers get good again one day, I think they deserve the bad karma they're getting lately for the shameful "process" nonsense they've pulled the last 5 years. It's too bad that the bad guys usually "win" in this life we're all mucking around in. But when a good guy beats the odds, it's worth so much more, and it's real. |
