Pat Falloon also had potential to be a team's top forward. So did Alex Daigle. - bmeltzer
Common Bill, I don't think those are fair comparisons.
It was known that Daigle was intoxicated by his own celebrity and Fat Balloon was allergic to exerting himself long before draft day.
I don't remember Drouin's character ever coming into question until the Cooper incident. Even then, what he did really wasn't that egregious. There have been plenty of 'character' players who weren't shy about using their leverage, many of whom are in the HOF despite hold outs, walk outs, trade demands, etc. |

Surely Murray and Guentzel will be overwhelmed by catfish, awful country singers, and redneck hillbillies in Smashville.

If we get Nolan, I'd prefer we trade for Drouin. If we get Nico, I'd prefer we trade for Landeskog. Regardless, Hagg, Filp and Vorobyov will get either done, so quit stressing. - arichardson22

I'll take Famous Tankers for $200, Alex. - Scoob
Right. And you can't tell me that a deal wasn't brokered between the league and Lemieux to land Crosby. Just like the '85 NBA draft...rigged.
This is not an endorsment for the Flyers to tank at this moment in time. Nor is it a statement that it is a guarantee for success.
What I am saying is this, any and all methods should be deployed by a team in order to win. For the Oilers and Sabres, it was the right move for those franchises during those particular times to tank. Absolutely without a doubt it was their best chance to put themselves in a position to win a cup.
There are no moral victories. Bite, scratch, claw, or flop your way there. Broker deals. Bend rules. Flout conventions. All the while maintaining a squeaky clean public appearance. |

I still wouldn't trade a 2nd round pick or Hagg for Drouin. Gotta stick to your principles. |
|
|
|
I don't think he is. Colorado have no cap issues, so there's no reason for them trade their 24 year old captain at a discount. - Feanor
Has had declining offensive number for three years now I believe and they have hit rock bottom. Don't see how hey get full value for him. But you are right, there is no need to trade him and if I were their GM I wouldn't! |

Drouin was a September cut in his first NHL camp; an immediate red flag. Pro year two, he refuses an AHL assignment and demands a trade publicly-- and two months earlier, Walsh privately requested a trade on his behalf. If that doesn't scream out maturity/character issues (or least a need for a different agent), I don't know what does. Wasn't hard to show character in Halifax when there was very little adversity to face. |

I actually found him to be an obnoxious, whining, entitled cry baby during limited viewing of him at the WJC in 2014. |

a) I dont believe that would get Ovi
b) Why in the world would we trade to get Filp back after we just got him off our books... please rationalize that to me |

Trivial matters like logic and salary cap do not come into trade proposals on this site. |

And Landeskog is a winger. - Feanor
Center, Winger, the "Shutdown Guy" was what I was getting at. Just saying I don't think of him that highly and I'm not a fan of when people combat low point totals with "he's solid defensively". |
