I don't think enough has been said about how important Rusty's decision was to go just straight north-south on that play at the beginning of the 3rd that led to Jake's 2nd goal. That was the kind of play that sparked the Pens into playing simple hockey for a little bit. That straight-ahead kind of playing was something that they hadn't been doing too much of in the first 100 minutes of this series & it seemed to remind the team "oh yeah, when we just do this simple thing, pucks go in the net". Cause that's sorta what happened for the next 3 minutes & all of a sudden, the tidal wave hit Nashville. But after that point, they sorta drifted back towards playing a little more east/west hockey.

I realise there's a feel good going on here, but (frank), this talk about already winning is a little hairy isn't it? Let's all calm down a little on that talk if we can pretty please??

He may give it to Mark Streit as the old vet who has never won one.

Malkin's a wuss.
Refs are giving the Pens the series.
Crosby is a whiner.
Um...
Um...Kessel....can't fly.

Better?

I think that both goalies are out. I think it's a two horse race between Malkin and Guentzel with Crosby as the dark horse due to Canadian media votes. Personally I'd give it to Malkin due to Guentzel's rough stretch during the Ottawa series. I'd also love to see a Phil Kessel makeup Conn Smythe hahaha.

I think sid has been better than geno all things considered. There is a lot he has done that doesn't show up on the scoresheet. Having said that geno can take over in the rest of the series and edge him out. But really it's between jake geno and sid....dont love the double goalie vote...but maybe that's a nice way to send off maf.

Which was the second one?

And you're correct, no rookie goalie has ever won 2 Stanley Cups. Dryden led Montreal to a Cup and then won the Calder the next season. Roy, Niemi, and Ward are the others to win one as a rookie.

Jacques Plante started 2 games as a rookie but then got replaced (had briefly taken the starting job the previous round) In an odd quirk he still spent enough time in the minors the nexr year to qualify as a rookie 3 straight years amd played in the Cup Final all 3 but just won the first one.

Hainsey would also fall into that category.

Funny that you brought that up because I was going to mention an old joke that went around when Tocchet, Wregget and Kjell Samuelsson were traded to Penguins: "How does a Flyer win a Stanley Cup? The need to play for the Penguins"

Felt it was too early though with the Cup not decided yet and didn't want to rub anything in.

I use terms like "if they pull this off" in my posts.

The Preds attitude will be they took their two at home, lets do the same. Nashville's stadium is electric, their players feed off of it and the coaches have last change.

There's F loads of hockey to be played yet...

Not a lot of talk about that garbage preordained 5 on 3 that Nashville got(In the media). It's a lil amusing as it sure was a hot topic when it was the other way around.

If he can close to a couple points of Malkin I feel Sid deserves it for his overall game, same as last year. Guentzel is a great story but at 7 points back don't think he can catch Malkin. For right now I would give it to Geno. Have to win two more first though.

Guentz might be 7 points back but he's leading the playoffs in goals and game winners. His goals are clutch as F...oh and he's a rookie. I think if he scored at all in the Sens series he might be the favourite.

There's no doubt though that the most important player(s), the MVP, has been the goalie(s) so far this run. No question.

If the Pens pull this off both goalies are deserving of it. Maybe MAF more so because if he didnt stand on his head the first two rounds Murray wouldnt of even played this post season.

Meh, I don't really care. Streit never endeared himself to the fan base the way that Tocchet did. I was happy when Timonen won one with Chicago and when Richards/Carter/Gagne won one with LA.

Preds will win the next 3 games. you all watch!

Kessel drinks too much soda and clowns around too much during warm ups.
