Plus the fact he has a year of eligibility left. He'd likely make the Olympic team too, so why would he want to sign to play in Rochester this year when he can stay in school and play in the Olympics?

The expansion draft certainly throws an extra element into the whole thing, that's for sure. People keep pointing out all the goalies that will be available, but at the same time, I can easily see why Vegas could go for a guy like Ullmark. Already gone through the development at the AHL level, will be cheap for a bit and someone they can build the rest of the team around as he's young. Even if they don't take him as their main guy for this year, I could still see him being a part of the overall plan (basically probably as backup this year at minimum).

But you're right, we have no idea how things will work out. I still think that the favor Murray mentioned McPhee owed him was going to be that they were going to leave Ullmark unprotected and that Vegas wouldn't take him. Not sure if that favor is still "owed" now that Murray is gone.

So I was wondering onto HFboards and there is someone who posted that there is a video or interview with Murray, where he says at the '14 draft, he had a trade in place to move down to 4 (Calgary) if FLA took Reinhart.

Anyone know if that happened or exists?

I guess it depends how many goalies they want for the AHL team
They're almost for sure going to take Subban from Boston...
not really anyone else of value there

They could also take Ullmark for the AHL,
but how many young goaltenders do they want?

Most ppl think they'll take Grubauer from the Caps & a vet like Howard or Fleury or Reimer for their NHL team
But if they decide to take a defenseman from the Caps instead...
then maybe they'd want another young goalie besides Subban?

Other young goalies who might be available:
Hellebuyck, if Winnipeg trades for a goalie
Gudlevskis, but Tampa will be exposing a pretty good forward for them to take
Campbell in LA, but he's 25 & never really lived up to his hype of years ago
Korpisalo (Cbus) may definitely be a target, but could choose a dman instead

It'll be interesting to see what they do with their goalies
Do they see Grubauer or Korpisalo as a franchise goalie?
If not, they go with defensemen from Cbus & the Caps
If they go that route, I think they choose Subban and Ullmark

But if they take one of them,
then I think they just choose Subban & then probably Carrier from us

As I stated on a different blog, is it possible that GMJB is able to convince GMGMc that favor is owed to the Pegulas since they forked over the money to pay Kesla not to show up. so really, GMGMc owes the favor to the Buffalo organization and not just to GMTM. That's how I would present it to GMGMc.

They have to draft at least 3 goalies.

He's probably the best player we'll expose.

I haven't really looked at who will be available other than the Dallas keepers and probably MAF I don't think Pittsburgh has another goalie they can expose other than Murray do they?
