The offside changed the flow. And that was a correct call. Who is to say we don't get a 5 on 4 goal too...so many ifs and buts....
- taleisyreXIII

not to be a debbie downer but i thought the pens absolutely got so lucky rinne flubbed that malkin goal hard.

they were one more clear away from pissing away a golden opporunity and nashville having a ton of momentum.

horns the zone entry guy? even the goal. no traffic. nothing really . now i always advocate for malkin ripping it, but realistically that should have just been a cover by rinne and a likely kill.

that third lucky goal is big though. cant lay back, but they have some room.

The Preds were doing a great job killing the penalty even after the no goal until they turned it over that changed the 'flow of the first period'

Pretty obvious that the league, media, etc., want Pittsburgh to win. It's sickening.

Crosby should have been called for interference on the 5-3.

The 5-3 never should have happened. How you call and 2nd penalty there when those situations are an absolute free for all 99% of the time is beyond me.

Disallowed Preds goal was inconclusive.

Refs have decided game 1.

Looking forward to the smug blog from RW tomorrow

Slow start for sure. Not surprised by it anymore. The non goal woke them up. I 100% think that shoulda been a goal.

This is the explanation:

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with the Linesmen, NHL Hockey Operations staff determined that Forsberg preceded the puck into the attacking zone, nor did he have possession and control before crossing the blue line.

They need to fix this poop. After this game.

- Thorny87

If I had to make a call there, his skate was like an inch off the ice. I think that was as inconclusive as it gets unless they have a better view/picture. It looked too grainy to tell for certain.

They do need to fix it however. It reminds me of the NFL trying to parse every aspect of a catch. Ridiculous.

y'all chill with the refs now?

i dont want to start an arguement but just trying to say how ridiculous it is that during the Ottawa series yall were all over the refs but now things bounce in your favor and everything is okay.

well played first. hope murray isnt injured. he may be butt ugly but frank if he isnt a great goaltender

I think the rulebook is in need of an overhaul for both offsides and goalie interference. its like they flip a coin everytime one of those things gets challenged. esp. goalie interference. its like every ref has a different definition of what it is

Sometimes 5 on 3 for 2 mins looks ugly. Players kinda don't bare down. 5 on 4 u see some more urgency. I dunno...its a pp goal regardless. We have had three series of a lot of calls against us...im not gonna sit here and suggest we give goals back because we capitalized on our chances.

The NHL's war room has more cameras at their disposal than the broadcast. They have cameras at the bluelines.

exactly this. its hard to get too upset over it one way or the other. its a coinflip largely determined by circumstance.

ill be the first to admit that the fact that was the first goal of the series likely influenced the outcome.

its not pro pens. its not anti pens. its just a joke all around.

no its okay please tell me more about how the NHL wants you to lose. the whole argument of refs being fixed one way or another is ridiculous. The league doesnt give two poops who wins or losses. Human error can work in your favor one day and not in another day.

Relax. Y'all played better that period and are the better team. I wasn't even attacking yall.

The NHL war room also made enough bad calls this year (unfortunately). First proof that it actually happened because with the camera views we got it was inconclusive (and thus a goal).

Pens lead deservedly but 3-0 is a joke of course.

Completely agree. Looking at things holistically, I am not sure the league knows what type of product it wants to push. We're now debating if someone's toe was on the ice.

oh nor do i.

i just think in my opinion theyve gotten pretty fortunate here. not with the reffing, but with rinne. that first goal he should have stopped. that third one, just was the anti craig anderson.

that sheary one though. (frank)ing pristine.

all im saying is this lead is well and good and all but its not like they territorially owned that period or anything. i doubt theyll see another 5 on 3 all series, but i just hope they bring better urgency to the five on four ones like you said.

exactly. its like they looked at some of the rule/culture changes the NHL made and got together and said which of these will (frank) up the momentum of our broadcasts the most while providing the least amount of benefit to our overall product?

oh (frank) yeah thats the one.

thank you for being reasonable. thats exactly what i was trying to say. we've all seen way worse calls throughout the course of the season. this one is just magnified because you know Stanley Cup Finals.

Alright I gotta get back to studying. Good luck to y'all. Cant say I'll be rooting for you but also can't say im jealous as frank of you guys right now.
