So do you think they paid Rinne for his effort today or do they use other measures to get what they want? I can see how disallowing goals can be seen as a gift - hell, they gave 1 of those bastards to Ottawa, but getting a goalie to give up 4 on 11 shots is an outstanding effort!

Amazing isn't it?

Ya know, I came in here today to vent about how upset I was with how the Pens played despite the win, but after hearing all the vapid, brain dead, drunken bar caliber comments from people who simply hate the Penguins and are essentially bitter, excuse making conspiracy believers that the NHL (once again) has it fixed and the other teams are always getting the shaft because of that, I'm actually thrilled now.

I just find it amazing none of you geniuses were here complaining about the entitled NHL's golden child Penguins during that stretch where they were getting knocked out early in the playoffs before last season's Cup?

Oh, sorry lol

Fixed, dunno why I uploaded the Sens game.

Thanks.

Its what I figured...not a huge discrepancy in scoring chances/high danger chances despite a massive discrepancy in both possession and shots.

I'm all for having fun too... but not showing up the other team right in front of their bench in the Stanley Cup finals. I just like it when its actual excitement rather than contrived celebrations. Ovie jumping into the glass, Theo Fleury sliding fist pump, I love it.

Looks like the Pens shot recording guy was very gratuitous on the Guenztel shot.. given tha this shot was exactly from the faceoff dot.

Oh no doubt..Im curious about scoring chances/high danger chances. I mean they only had 2 more shots than the Pens in the 3rd period...6 in total.
- MattStrat

Good point. It didn't feel like we gave up a ton of chances either, just that we were getting absolutely none.

According to the chart jboyd posted, we had more scoring chances then shots.

PK is one area they need to tighten up. Bad news for all those who want to swap Hainsey for Ruhwedel. Hagelin for Wilson might make sense though. But they probably don't get scored on 2 out of 3 times on the pk again.

I'm trusting Sullivan to have a heavy video day and make some adjustments especially on the breakout. Got lucky for sure last night. Got to be better than that and I expect it.

Yeah but I still think they got outplayed badly. Thanks to Rinne for sucking balls. Horseshoe strikes again.

I would never argue they didnt get outplayed badly. They did...but in the shotless 2nd period I never felt the Preds were that dangerous...it was a weird thing to watch.

Well that's the thing...Pens have been the lesser team every game 1 of these playoffs. They then went to tape, made adjustments and looked much better in every game 2.

They have a feel for/understanding of the Preds at their best now. This will help with adjustments.

I dont think they go without a shot in the second if they entered it tied or down by a goal. They went into it up 3-0....the 1st period is way to early to have a 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup finals...

I didn't think he was trying to show them up, and I don't think it was contrived/planned. Did you see him during the anthem? The guy was totally jacked up. And he just scored a goal in the SCF after being dealt from a team that felt they couldn't win with him. I had no issue with it.

Aside from the Malkin goal, which was on a partially screened 5-on-3, I can't fault Rinne for any of the goals. Defensive breakdown after a turnover on the Sheary goal, steers a puck towards the corner only for it to hit Ekholm and bounce in, and a perfect shot from Guentzel using the D as a screen. I doubt Murray would have stopped any of those 3.

How dare you besmirch the name that is Murray. He could have stopped those all while doing two salchows and a triple lutz and while wearing a blind fold!

Rinne was poor at tracking the puck on the Sheary goal, didn't even move. Bit on the Kunitz fake the whole way. Bones threw it to the net and Rinne hit it with his stick into Ekholm, bad luck, but still went off Rinne.

Yeah, it went off him, but like you said, that's bad luck, it could happen to anyone.

And maybe is a Nashville defender was within 10 feet of Sheary, he doesn't get a wide open net to shoot at. So the entire team bit on it, but it was purely Rinne's fault...got it.

With all the low shot count talk for the Pens, I really hope the PK can stop a few more goals moving forward. Special teams are letting down the team.

I didn't think he was really screened on the Guentzel shot either.

I think he should have seen that.

Plus healthier than tanger. I doubt the pens ever would have considered that but I know a part of me thought it wouldn't have sucked.

Edit...to be clear I think they could have got subban for tanger....if they wanted.
