waiting for PE to chime in about the pen fix is in...

I have been saying it since Pitt "won" the draft lottery. How many examples do you need?

I can't remember ever seeing 2 penalties called at once. I guess we have a dynasty.

I doubt the fix is in for anyone - the incompetence is.

Toronto has more views of f the offsides than we see - including a camera at ice level, IIRC.

The two penalties - and the uncalled interference by Crosby - are different stories.

there is another factor, control of the puck, hmmmmm. too inconclusive

Bingo.
Other things you only see called against the Blackhawks, 1) a deflected shot in the defensive zone called DOG, 2) a player called on the ice when he had 1 leg over the board, and 1 on the bench. Another thing I have only seen, a face-off drop before Sharp was in the face-off circle.

A nanometer is as good as a kilometer - off the ice is off the ice - that's the rule.

Change it if it's a bad rule, I don't care, but as long as it IS the rule, enforce it - using replay review if necessary.

- StLBravesFan

sage...i get it...but in the regular flow of the play there is simply no way a linesman can make that the correct call all the time...and it had nothing to do with the goal...

so yeah...they should change or amend it...

and that was inconclusive...i don't what they saw with out a telephoto electron microscope

Then change it - I wouldn't object. And - challenges shouldn't be allowed if a certain amount of time has passed - or touches have occurred - or possession has changed - since the zone entry - im ok with that.

And again - ice level camera may have given Toronto a better view than we had.

Thaere's my gripe (I'd have said "female dog", but we all know what THAT turns into):

Interference 100% of the time, but only called 10% - or less.

Projected 2017-18 NHL salary cap: $73M-$77M, depending on if NHLPA exercises 5% inflator.

Elliotte Friedman
@FriedgeHNIC

NHLPA has discussed no "growth factor" for next year, since arrival of @GoldenKnights adds new jobs/salaries

Allan Walsh‏
@walsha

Bottom line, NHL is experiencing 2% or less leaguewide revenue growth. NFL, NBA MLB revenues exploding. But, Gary's got this covered.

And, on a side note, they continue to play ostrich on the CTE/head safety issue:

Colin Campbell just stopped me after Bettman presser to say my question about head safety was "crazy" & "out of line." #HockeyPlay

But Sid knows he can get away with that 100 out of 100 times.....that is what is wrong. He needs to be drilled into the boards on a clean check (or a little bit dirty).

The other leagues have several US networks competing for contracts - NHL has only one.

The NHLPA will do the full 5% like they always do. Cap should be around $76m. There's really no new news here.

Don't count on it - the escrow would dramatically increase they did, and the contracted players are tired of that.

True true true,

Here is who should be ticked off - the now 31 owners. If I recall the cap is a 50/50 split before the 5% escalators. So @75M each franchise sees 150.0M in gross revenues? Cost of non ice talent must go up along with other expenses. Their portion of the pie must be shrinking each year. Yet on the flip side few clubs are sold and zero bankruptcies. I must be missing something...

The more time I spend looking at the salaries on this team, the more I can't understand how you can retool this roster. You can't add any pieces without moving a massive contract and this team has more holes in it than ever before.

Move Seabrook and you need a new defenseman, move Panarin and now this roster has no left wings, or move center that we have very few of. The cup windowed closed the moment after we hoisted that cup at the UC against Tampa.

That offseason rocked this organization to the core with the loss of Saad, Sharp, and the overpayments of Kruger and Seabrook. Bowman was never the architect of this team, he was the executioner.

Believe me this is the most depressing realization you can make as a fan, but I've reached that point. There is no logical answer to this roster, and if Stan can fix this then I will very happily eat my words. But deep down I know it's mediocrity from here.

Who wants to be traded because of the cap?
