That would be a solid deal, but would Montreal part with their captain? Maybe.
Besides Pacioretty, Galchenyuk Shaw and Gallagher are the only potential players I could see coming this way. - DarthKane
I don't know why the Habs would trade their 30+ goal scoring wing Captain for a 20+ goal scoring C that makes about the same amount of money. |

I haven't seen that anywhere. And I'm not either. I'm just being realistic about their likelihood of contributing meaningfully in the NHL this year. - John Jaeckel
JJ, this comment wasn't really directed at you, but more the comments people make about this player not having size to be an NHL player or that this guy won't make it because he isn't scoring enough in junior. Sometimes it is a comment people make like "the hawks prospect pool is depleted or has no talented players"
Some fantastic NHL players have been written off or taken very unusual routes to the league, but it only matters what they do when they hit the ice. I just think some people get too high and some get too low. I think more of us fans just need to enjoy the ride and not get too hung up on a team that is ultimately here for our entertainment.
I agree with you that it is unlikely that any of the new rookies make meaningful NHL contributions in the next season. |

Eklund has Anisimov headed to the Habs.
I wonder who we will get back in Return, let the discussion begin
Edit :
A big thank you for all that have served. - BGKarras
Nathan Beaulieu rights and/or Al Montoya. You may have to throw in Hammer or a draft pick to get it done. Especially if Rutta is signed and creates a logjam at RD. Montoya eliminates the backup goaltender issue and he only costs a hair above 1mil. The move however creates an issue at 2C and maybe we can get Bonino or Hanzal to sign with us at (or around) 4mil. |

Both teams need to be completely restructured.
That move might give the Hawks some better longevity and a shot at one more cup run, but it really doesn't do much for the Habs. |

EK: The Montreal Canadiens are now the front runner for Anisimov...I am NOT hearing Galchenyuk will be traded for Anisimov...so there are definitely other teams involved... |

One year gets him to UFA at a cost the Hawks could absorb.
More than one year - eating into Kempny's UFA years - and the player would have wanted MORE than the Hawks could absorb. - StLBravesFan
I guess that's the point . This seems like a bad deal for the Hawks who had all the leverage. Again
Should have been able to get a 2 yr deal at a minimum |

A better guess is this and that Kempny wants to see where he ends up in the line up. If he gets yo-yo'd again he can leave after this year. Would not blame him. Its time for the youth movement on D. |

Totally agree here. I'm sure Kempny only wanted a 1 year deal. Why would the Hawks, especially at that hit. At those dollars Hawks should have gotten 2 years.
Something closer to the minimum for only 1 year...

In this case, if it's being reported on Twitter, who cares?
I've seen pieces on these players from Dietz and Powers, not sure what other columnists are saying, but neither one of those guys have annointed these players anything more than they are...potentially promising prospects. - HawkintheD
I follow over 500 people on Twitter. You're right, no one cares. But if you're really saying no one is possibly overhyping DeBrincat right now, you perhaps didn't learn much during "Teuvo Time" |

I wouldn't worry about Kempny's new contract, it's pretty much a low risk or even now risk move.
$900,000 for one year is quite reasonable. I highly doubt he would have signed for close to the minimum ($625,000 I believe). I can see the argument that some of Stan's contracts were too rich or too long, but not this one. |

NHL hockey players are considerably bigger, faster, better, meaner than junior players. And that leaves aside the fact that stylistically and in terms of the position/role he will pay in the NHL, DeBrincat is not really the "solution" to what ails the Hawks right now. Whose ice time is he going to take?
Kane's? Panik's? Hossa's? So let's get real.
- John Jaeckel
DeBrincat shoots right but he plays on the left side for Erie so most likely he would play LW next season - be it in Rockford or for the Hawks |

Knott plays LW too, but I would guess he's a couple years away from the show. |

Motte seems to have a good bottom six pro-style game. Hopefully he'll be ready for the show within the year |

I don't think anyone here believes Debrincat or Knott are the saviors of the team because they had good OHL seasons and a solid Memorial Cup showing. I think people are excited to see the Hawks prospects perform well and look forward to what these guys do in camp.
The realistic expectation (which I believe is shared by most) is that Debrincat and Knott will spend at least a season or two in Rockford, which isn't a bad thing.
But I agree with you that change is coming and there will be new faces on the team next season. It's just very unlikely it will be any of the guys playing junior or college hockey last season. - DarthKane
This,
I'm not sure who all those are that are hyping either one of them as a savior.
I just don't see it, not here at least.

Who said "anyone here"? I didn't. Think I mentioned Twitter actually.
Agreed. Let 'em marinate for a season or two in Rockford.
Not sure where we're disagreeing actually. - John Jaeckel
Ah, Twitter, sorry bout that.
Don't follow you on twitter, sorry, did for about a month. Its more than hockey in that forum.
Hard for me to believe anyone who knows anything really thinks they are saviors. Nothing wrong with having promising prospects though, better than the alternative. |
