I disagree. His shot suppression is still tops in the league, he's just not, nor has he ever been, a shot generator. Move him left and I bet his possession metrics take a bump. he's also pretty cheap. - JRoenick97
The NHL is moving toward D that can move the puck/initiate the rush. Hjam on his offside means clear the puck weakly to center ice and then defend another rush. 2 & 4 got pinned in their own end way too much this year especially the playoffs. They often couldn't get off to change because weak clears to center oftentimes led to another quick attack by opposing forwards.
I don't think the issue is 4 more so than it is coaching. Plenty of quality tread left on his tires. I don't like him on his offside and I don't like him paired with Keith. Hjam has limited options when he is on his offside. You better believe opposing coaches and players know this... it's a lot harder to clear a puck along the boards on your backhand. Anytime 4 has the puck just force him to the boards. It'll be a turnover or a weak backhand clear.
Q and the current front office have shown they are not very good at developing D. |

That's my perspective, too. It takes a second or so longer to make a backhanded play, but that second or two is enough time for a forechecking opponent to bear down on you forcing a turnover or ill-advised play. Backhanded clears are also less predictable than a forehanded one, so there is a greater chance of a delay of game penalty by backhanding a puck airborne to clear the zone. |

I certainly understand why most defensemen are better on their correct side than their offside, but with Hjalmarsson, I keep thinking that:
They won two championships, and made a final-four, with Hjalmarsson on his offside paired with Oduya on the left. |

Anyone else notice Malkin throwing shots when the linesmen were in between him and Subban, but when they let them go Malkin immediately bear hugged Subban and wasn't interested in trading blows? Malkin is a great player, but that was a chickenpoop thing to do. - 6628
i agree and i think that is why got the extra minor....a punch thrown with a lineman in between should be a double minor

Big thing to add to that... He's an iron man. Beyond blocking a ton of shots, he has a tremendous threshold for pain.
Hammer is a D man that if the Hawks move, they have to have significant, meaningful return. A cap hit like that is something the Hawks need. |

You don't get a 43% CF by suppressing shots. He was bleeding shots. And even when he is playing LD he reverts to his backhand. He takes far too long to move the puck wherever he plays. The puck stops on his stick every time.
He blocks a lot of shots because he turns the puck over constantly. He denies entry occasionally. That he is still fairly good at.

3 championships. He played the right side with Campbell in 2010. |

TSN has article about EDM should make a move now... dangling Eberle, of course... but would Seabs/Anisimov bring back RNH/Eberle? we would get 1.35m in cap relief for 2 years then 6m more for the years following... |

Campbell was the right side D in 2010. Hjalmarsson played left that year. |

If no signings can happen between June 17 and June 22, but the Vegas team will be announced on the June 21 (without the ability to sign anyone), does that mean that the players announced on the 21st cannot be traded? How can you announce a team when there is no one signed? |

Yikes!
I am out of here.
I knew there was a reason I stayed away...no reaon to be bothered about with imaginary tales.
I am fairly certain DeBrincat WAS offered as aprt of a package to Colorado when the Avs were talk shopping their two highly paid early selected Landeskog and Duchene...but that deal died. - wiz1901
I heard that, at the very least, it was discussed internally among some Hawk hockey ops people—a large package involving DeBrincat++ and Duchene+.

Because Stan is the worst GM in the history of GMs!
It sounds like they don't know where he'll end up, Tampa makes sense because of his brother but I would imagine he'll look for the best fit for his situation. |

Would love to scoop him up. If we can grab him it might make trading another D or a 1st round pick a lot easier to swallow.
Plus there'd be plenty of time for him to grow in the AHL next to Jake Bean... |

I'm sure he'll have a lot of teams after him, then he'll sign with the Rangers. |
