They are bringing Miller back, we don't need more defense.

Playing meaningful games in March.

Pitt also turned sutter into bonino and used Glenndening in the hagelin trade
- Redmile247

Bonino had 1 nice playoff run last year. Even then, only 4 goals in 24 games. He wasn't playing behind Crosby and Malkin in VAN

At the end of the day tho it was a trade that VAN didn't have to make. Players are virtually the same ppg since being moved. But one player is making 4 Shmill, the other under 2.

I wonder who will overpay for him this summer? Or will he understand how good he has it in Pitt and take a discount.

Bonino seems to have a penchant for big goals at the right time, like a lot of the Pittsburgh players. But I agree, Sutter and Bonino are pretty much the same quality of player, a really good 3rd line centre than can occasionally slot into the top 6. Sutter seems to score more goals though, which I like.

Sutter's biggest asset is his speed and faceoffs IMO and the Canucks badly needed those things. I dislike his contract and the way he has been used here but he was always the better player for the Canucks.

That said Bonino can actually create offense and if we were going to give one of those two players top 6 ice time, I would of preferred it to be Bonino.

I'm wondering if JB looks at Bonino this summer, for a fair deal. Then we could play Sutter back with the Sedins, have Sutter Taking Hanks draws.

Apparently Bonino is looking for a raise, one would think he would take a deal with Pitt, so Van would have to outbid.

The trade doesn't bother me.
I think it boils down to
Kessler
2nd
Spare parts
Forsling

For

Sbisa
3rd
Gudbranson
Sutter

Fix it for me as I'm sure I'm missing a mid round pick or two. Also the 2nd we swapped for a third only moves us down 6 picks so I'm not giving it full value

I wasn't really comparing sutter and bones ...more just adding to the return in the staal trade

I think bonino will go for a pay day ...he has been underpaid

I certainly hope not.

The only UFA's I would want us to go after is a physical forward ( King, White, Winnick etc.) and some more NHL depth on the blueline ( B. Smith, Gryba, Stone).

I have seen a few articles where the Sens may leave Dion or Bobby Ryan exposed for the draft.

Not one mention did I hear of other players ever refusing to ever sign again with the Sens. If someone here mentions put Edler or Sutter exposed and this team is dubbed the Black Plague and no one for the next 50 years will ever sign here

- VANTEL

Technically they can't unless both players agree to it, they both have NMC's in their contracts.

Flagged for falsehoods and outright lies
Edler and Sutter have a NTC not a NMC, so they could be exposed if we wanted.. but for all the hate Edler gets, he's not overpaid unlike Phaneuf so I don't see tree benefit in exposing him.

Weren't Bonino, McCann and one of the seconds or the third the return for Kessler, you can't include them I only one side of the trade without also putting them on the other. I'm not sure about the picks but I'm removing the players and reposting.
Also wasn't clendening traded for forsling?

The way I see it, Bonino, McCann and the 2nd were used to acquire other pieces, Sutter, Gudbranson etc.

What I posted is purely what went out and what came back in.
You can see each deal in detail here.

we don't have anything to discuss until we start seeing the results of the combine, then maybe we will get to make fun of some kid who can't do a push/pull up.
