Is it crazy to expose Frolik? I can't imagine them not protecting Lazar since they just gave up a second rounder. With that assumption you have to choose between protecting Frolik or Ferland. I honestly would protect Ferland. If you loose Frolik they at least gain more cap room.

Think about what you're saying for a second. Ferland and Frolik were two extremely important players for the Flames last year. Why in the blue hell would the Flames protect Lazar over either of them?

Lazar has done absolutely nothing as an NHLer, and the only reason Vegas would even consider him is because the Flames really have nothing else of value. I'd use the pick to sign Elliott before I used it on anyone else the Flames will likely be exposing.

If the Flames were really hellbent on ensuring Lazar remains a Flames, they'd trade Ferland or Frolik instead of losing them for nothing.

It's a moot point unless the Flames are overly worried about hurting Brouwer's feelings by exposing him.

If Treliving even suggests exposing Ferland or Frolik just because they traded a second round pick for Lazar and wants to keep Brouwer happy, he should be fired on the spot.

Well, the blog is about the scenario of acquiring a top 4 D, and only being about to protect 4 Forwards. IMO, it's a non starter as the Flames can't afford to lose Ferland or Frolik (or Lazar) which they'd have to expose at least one.

I don't agree with trading for a top 4 D when chances are we have at least one up and coming in the system. What do we have that will replace Bennett who will arguably be one of put top forwards in a year or 2?

If Bennett gets traded to Anaheim the Flames will never win there. Good luck with that. Wait until he's on the other team in the same division mucking about it with Gaudreau or Monahan. A kid like that will make it his mission to stick it to the team that traded him.

This article is nonsense. Burke was just on the radio saying how good of a spot they are in going into the expansion draft. They don't have any issues to deal with like other teams have so why would the flames go out of their way to cause a problem for themselves and lose even more quality forwards. Free agency or post expansion draft trades is all you will see from BT.

Agreed Shayne Trading one of the few forwards we have with talent and grit to a team that just outgritted the $hit out of us...makes 0 sense i like Shayne's common sense post
