No mea culpa for quoting from a poverty "study" that was done prior to the Clinton welfare reforms?
And you'll forgive me if I completely ignore any "studies" produced by the Heritage Foundation.
There is certainly a healthy discussion to be had about welfare reforms in America.
"Studies" from the Heritage Foundation do not contribute anything of substance to the discussion.
To put it in terms that will hopefully help you understand, I don't quote from Garth when talking about projections for the Atlantic Division for 2017-18.
Or put yet another way: you can't laugh at Tanner for only presenting one distorted side of an argument, if all you are going to do is present the opposite yet equally distorted view. - Atomic Wedgie
My points may be "liberal" but is more the fault of the times, to suggest what I am saying is equally biased or one sided as that guy is just not accurate.
While there are crazy liberals, just using accepted facts and research isn't hard core liberalism, and when one side are fact and science deniers it presents a distorted idea of bias.
For instance, at least 30% of people deny global warming, which we scientifically know is real. The correct answer on that debate is not to meet in the middle because one side is objectively wrong.
Facts are not ideological. |

I think Obama was a divisive President, but mostly because Fox and Trump went on a relentless eight year campaign of fear-mongering and mis-information. Politically his policies most closely reflect Ronald Regean, so there is an irony to the Repulican hatred of Obama.
Here is a quick history lesson for you about racism:
When slavery was legal, there was a racist term called octoroon, which meant that a person was considered black if they had a single black person in their family tree going back to their great grandparents, which is like 15 or 16 people, hence the term.
Not only were you a slave if you were even 1/16 black, but the whiter your skin, the more money the slave could be sold for.
Now consider that being mixed race doesn't mean you get treated with any less racism than a full raced person, and maybe you can see why derogatorily pointing out that Obama is only half black is pretty damn racist. - james_tanner1
Oscar winning actor Morgan Freeman has declared that the U.S. is still waiting for its first black president as Barack Obama does not qualify because he is of mixed-heritage.
Making the controversial comments on NPR, Freeman said that even though President Obama identifies himself as African-American, the fact remains that his mother was a white woman from the Great Plains.

No disrespect but I'm believe you're taking about the welfare reforms initiated by Newt Gingrich in his Contract with America. That was 1994. I just gave you 2012 and the Hertage Foundation is just fine. You guys make the same arguments every time. You don't like what's being said so you attack the source as illigitimate. Can't make this stuff up ! - arh777
But the heritage foundation is a right-wing think-tank who is well known for a conservative bias that actual conservatives find disgusting.
Not a good source, at all.
I mean, I have people female doging about the Pulitzer Prize winning Politifact, but we're supposed to respect the Heritage Foundation? I don't want to be divisive, but you need to be open to new information or you're in a cult. |

Certainly Gingrich was instrumental in the welfare reforms - I never argued otherwise.
But seriously, the Heritage Foundation is not fine. Every "study" they release is one in which the conclusion is made before the research is undertaken - nobody actually takes them seriously. So yes, they are illigitimate (sic).
And as per my original post, there is a discussion to be had on welfare reform, so I'm puzzled as to why you think I'm one of the guys making the same argument every time. |

If you think Obama's policies most closely reflect Ronald Reagan, you are grossly misinformed on Obama's policies, and Reagan's for that matter.

It's not racist at all. I say he is half white
Well he is only half black. That's a fact. Of course trump is the reason he was a divisive president . Good lord heard it all know |

Take a few minutes and peruse their website - see if you can find me a study that supports any policy, program or idea from the left side of the political spectrum.
Is it really so hard for you to admit that the Heritage Foundation is a far-right think tank?
That's how they describe themselves, FFS.
I won't come on here and try to blow smoke up your arse by telling you that Rachel Maddow is objective, so please show me the courtesy of not trying to pretend the franking Heritage Foundation is objective.
You want to sit at the adult table? Bring adult arguments.
Otherwise, you just being exactly what you are ridiculing, from the opposite side of the spectrum. |

I am still a huge fan of Ekblad. I think he's an awesome player - but after a bad season I saw someone list him in the top ten this morning, and that's overrated. - james_tanner1
Yup he's not top 10 YET, if injuries don't screw him he'll be as good as Weber used to be. Weber from ages when he was possesion driver. |

Then give me one! Head start is a 8 billion program!
Recently released results from the Head Start Impact Study indicate that the benefits of participating in Head Start almost completely disappear by first grade. While other studies have previously assessed Head Start's effectiveness, this is the only study that used a rigorous experimental design. Given this strongly negative evaluation, Congress should reconsider spending more than $9 billion per year on a program that produces few positive lasting effects. Furthermore, instead of creating yet another new federal preschool program at a cost of $8 billion, Congress and the Obama Administration should focus on terminating, consolidating, and reforming existing preschool and child care programs to better serve children's needs and to improve efficiency for taxpayers.

So your "proof" is to cut and paste from a Heritage Foundation study of Head Start?
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Thank you for conclusively proving what many of us suspected: you are completely incapable of independent thought. |

Obama was divisive because of the things he did and said. I know you and your lib buddies have a disdain for personal responsibility. Stop blaming others for his poor choices.

You are wrong and I don't really know what to do about it. When people doubt facts and aren't open to new ideas it's insane. There shouldn't be any partisan discussion - we should all be open minded and change our mind when new information becomes available.
A conservative should be as disgusted by Donald Trump as I am. Any person denying Global Warming needs to go back to school. It's real. Debate over. 2+ 3 = 5 and it's not an opinion. If you think it's 3 or 6 you're just wrong. |
