If the teachers union was truly interested in the best interests of their students, they wouldn't so fiercely oppose school choice. They wouldn't oppose school voucher systems nor would they oppose expansion of private and/or charter schools.
- quackup

They're not interested in the best interests of their students. Their students don't pay dues. The teachers union is a perfect example of a union that needs to be neutered. To a point though, you don't want to give too much power to the municipalities where they have Walmart levels of control over their employees, but somewhere in the middle where no one truly has leverage and compromise is a must.

Most liberals are low uneducated people who have not a clue. All they want is handouts If you want to know the real story about Liberals Go see the movie "Hillary's America" And if you still are convinced to be a liberal. God Help you

I just want to make sure I have this straight. You saw a piece of propaganda that came out during an election year that confirmed everything you've been fed by FOX and Alex Jones and other right wing sources, and it totally convinced you you were right?

James, I have never, not once called anyone on this forum a snowflake. You are again misinformed and mistaken. Politics are simply innapropiate for a online hockey discussion forum.

And yet, here you are, in every blog...

I think Breibart is disgusting and inappropriate. Therefore I don't (frank)ing read it!

Why?

Fox News blatantly appeals to the uneducated and the easily duped. That is a fact. It is objective and true and cannot be argued against. MSNBC is not the liberal Fox News. MSNBC has a bias, but it still entrenched firmly in reality, unlike Fox, which actually differentiates between it's news staff and the people whom embarrass said staff.

Technically, a douche like Sean Hannity is not a part of the fox "news" team. But most people don't even realize that because well, that'd be bad for business.

But objectively speaking, Fox News is propaganda for stupid people and everyone knows it.

- james_tanner1

This.

FOX does this better than anyone else. They should have to flash "This is not news. This is one person's opinion" at the top of the screen every 5 seconds. And the same goes for "This is the news. This is not opinion. This really happened.". And if you get caught cheating on either one then your creds get pulled in increasing time periods until they get pulled forever.

edit: this post isn't written to the guy I'm quoting. It started that way, but.....

One of the main problems is that normal people don't live in a "left/ right" society. It's only in the last couple years that I've heard anyone say "the left...."

A lot of the things I believe in that are really leftist have to do with income inequality. But other than that, nearly everything I believe or , pragmatically, at least, how I act, or vote or whatever, is pretty centrist.

I don't like to refer to people as "the right" because a lot of things that are "to the right" of my views are perfectly reasonable, even i I don't agree with them.

But the Trump Die Hard/ Fox News / Tea Party people are not moderates. They are way way to the right, bordering on Facism. Their views are not correct, palatable, or reasonable. IN most cases, they do not stand up to scientific scrutiny. But these are your HARD CORE repubs who have never stopped to question how their views line up with the five or six puppet master billionaires (Koch Brothers/Ruper Murdochs etc) who run their party or how that is even possible.

In a reasonable world, I am to the Left of Obama's Republican Party and Mitt Roney is "kind of" extreme.

So to be clear, I do not think all Conservatives are dumb. My problem is with the rubes who have chosen to support an agenda that robs them and forces them to vote against their own interest because they've been roused up to be scared of "LIBERALS" just like every single "othering" which has gone down throughout history.

They roused you up about guns and immigrants then rob you blind while promoting this false equivalency that Liberals are just as extreme as Conservatives, and that everyone is partisan.

Unfortunately all you have to do is find the number of respected intellectuals in this country who support Trump to find out I'm right. If I am just as biased as MLJ and those guys, well how come that number is zero?

Did you seriously just refer to him as "Obummer"?

That hilarious transgression aside, Obama is pretty much the standard definition of a centrist politician. Not only did he actively work to suppress the more progressive side of the Democratic Party, but he is a war hawk, the drone king, and his health-care bill was invented by Mitt Romney.

I mean, as a person who is honourable, dignified and respectable, I am a huge Obama fan, but politically he is hardly distinguishable from Ronald Reagan.

Look, if I call you a name, that is disrespectful.

But quoting facts about how dumb Fox News is, is not 'disrespectful.'

I am under no obligation to pretend things that are wrong are OK just because a lot of people believe them.

I am sorry, but how respectful are you when you write - as you have literally dozens of times - how stupid my hockey opinions are, or how you can't believe someone who thinks what I think has a job writing about hockey etc. ?

I mean, dude, get real.

Fox News is literally fake news for dumb people. How can I say that in a nicer way when it's objectively, literally, unquestioningly true?

I don't know who decides, but please find me an example of a respected intellectual who supports Trump?

Because conservative intellectuals like David Frum can't stand him. Neither can S.E Cupp, Erickson or David Brookes.

The only prominent Trump supporters I can name are Kid Rock and Tim Allen. Even Anne Coulter - who is to conservative intellectuals as I am to Travis Yost - pulled her support.

He is not even close to a Republican and if you believe that well then this conversation should end. Was he the worst President? No, but he also wasn't far off from it. Giving any President credit for the military is just stupid as well. He didn't come up with any plans he just approved them. Look up how much he spent on vacations alone, this guy did almost nothing while he was in office. Now I am registered Republican but there are extremists on each side and none of them should get in office. I wouldn't call Trump an extremist, maybe a little far right. He has been in office for under a year why not give this guy a chance and see what he does? Ideally we should have a President with views almost directly in the middle but that would never happen because neither party would support that. IMO healthcare is a privilege and not a right by any means and welfare should be cut drastically and limited to 1 year.

Newt Gingrich
Laura Abraham
Herman Cain
Mike Huckabee.

Anne Coulter has disagreed with some things that Trump has done but she has not pulled her support. You're again inaccurate.
