Well you brought it up so I will comment If Hillary became president this country would lose all jobs and then turn into a third world country. You cannot have that many giveaways and have everyone on food stamps It just does NOT work. We have states that have more people not working than actually working. Under Hillary that would have increase. Open borders, you have got to be kidding me. I just do not understand how liberals think that Hillary and Obuma were the answer. Cause they were NOT. Thank God you have someone running the country that wants to run it like a business. Not just throw money down the toilet. Liberals are clueless

That Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones worked out pretty well too. How about James Neal and Patric Hornqvist? Jury is still out on Subban for Weber.

Not sure how you could lump Roman Josi in the most overrated defense category. One of the best two-way d-men in the league right now. You must not ever see him play. And still young and on a very manageable contract. Best defenseman on the Preds and top five in the league.

He's the fourth best D on Nashville. He is great on the pp.

i legitimately thought your response was funny

You're being unrealistic to avoid admitting that cutting 9.2 BILLION from the education program is objectively, and unequivocally a bad move. In no way does that improve the quality of life for anyone living in low income areas in any facet. You'll be fine, I'll probably be fine, but there will be staggering amounts of children who will suffer from this.

For the sake of full disclosure, i'm not a liberal. I did not like Obama and i'm not here to poop on your political belief system.

- Mordecai

I simply don't care about the education cuts because of how bad our public school system has gotten. I've seen big districts in this country waste tens of millions each year and no one bats an eye. I believe the education system has been going heavily downhill since No Child Left Behind became more about pushing children through each grade and test scores just to get more government funding.

Okay I can work with that. For sure the education system is already flawed and there are problems. I can sympathize with the idea that NCLB may be actively hindering the ability to teach real life skills to kids. I'm all about following your dreams and all that but the amount of people going to college for things like sociology, liberal arts, etc as opposed to learning a trade is unbalanced and continues to become a worrysome trend. But, in no way can I look at a 9 billion cut and see any progress coming from that. Teachers, especially in low income and poverty striken areas, will have even LESS incentive to work because they simply won't be able to make enough money. There has to be a balance and cutting 13% out of an already "failing" education system cannot possibly be the solution.

In my useless opinion of course.

Well you guys are in an embarassing situation education wise and only making it worse. A first world country and some of the most arrogant and ignorant people on earth.

The seaboards seem to have a larger percentage of intelligent people though! In between and in the South though..

We already spend more on education than 95% of other countries, and our test results are abysmal. Money isn't the answer. The teachers union has zero interest on improving education. Political power is all they care about. They're fighting tooth and nail to prevent charter schools from taking hold, and they fiercely oppose school choice.

They live in a perfect socialist world. They have tenure, so it's impossible to get fired even if their teaching standards are totally substandard. The government ensures they always have a job. They can say anything in the classroom without any fear of impunity, and they live in a bubble where their entire existence is spent around children, and with adults that think only like themselves, who happen to also spent all of their time around children. They've never grown up and still believe in the utopian dream. I believed in that dream when I was a teenager. Then I went to work in the real world. Only problem is they aren't teens anymore.

So you think it's a fundamental issue of teachers not willing to put the actual work in? I definitely see examples of this but I don't know if the entirety of what's wrong with the education system is based on it.

I do believe arrogance and ignorance are separate from educational level... its moreso a cultural thing.

It's not about the teachers not putting in effort. It's the fact that the system doesn't allow leniency for teaching. It's all for test scores. The money needs to be there, the cuts are (frank)ing stupid. But the whole teaching for testing is ruining a generation.

If the teachers union was truly interested in the best interests of their students, they wouldn't so fiercely oppose school choice. They wouldn't oppose school voucher systems nor would they oppose expansion of private and/or charter schools.

I disagree. I think both of those terms are entirely related to education.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it though.

I agree 100% that having a first line player on pittsburghs top 3 lines is what makes them a matchup nightmare for any other team, but the problem with that is that its very difficult to actually be able to pull it off successfully. I feel like the leafs COULD do this with matthews, nylander, and marner all being on different lines. But the chemistry between matthews and nylander cannot be overlooked ... and marner still has a lot of strengthening to do

I also think the FEDERAL government should get out of education. The Department of Education should be abolished. Send the federal funds to the States and let them allocate the money. How does Washington DC know what's best for Alaska or Hawaii? They don't.

How about we get back to the thread at hand and keep talking about how the flyers suck?
