he was focused on offense...completely flipped the depth chart...remember the core days and how we didn't have any centers outside the two top-20 centers who weren't' top-20 at all?
- Michael Pachla

But even after we had Girgensons, Grigorenko, Reinhart...
had just drafted Hurley & Compher...
& was tanking for McEichel...
and Ennis was still playing Center at that point...
and had just drafted Bailey & Baptiste & traded for Fasching...

He still kept drafting almost exclusively forwards

I know that not all those guys were his picks
But we were deep with forward talent none the less

On defense, we had...
Myers & Risto
Zadorov, McCabe & Pysyk coming
And that's it
Nothing else was in the system

Drafting defense should've been his priority outside of obvious Reinhart & Eichel picks

Pachla me too although I really liked falk's game last year...key for botts is moving at least one dead-weight contract...two would be ideal and if he happened to move both bogo and gorges, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it

I would be ok with the Georges contract staying put but I think we need the Bogosian contract off the books ASAP. Georges is 3.9 for only one more year and that is when we will need the money. Having Georges play as the 6 is OK but Bogosian has 3 years left at 5.2 we will need that money for better players not a guy that can't stay healthy and honestly on a good team is a 5-6 at best.

mccabe-risto

new guy-bogo

Antipin-Demelo

could work

- Sabresfan-365

Who is Demelo?
Anyways...
we'd like to start next year more like this:

(new guy) - Risto
McCabe - (new guy)
Antipin - Bogo
Falk

That would keep Guhle in Rochester to start

The Ducks either get Bieksa to agree to waive his ntc in order to be exposed or they buy him out. Injured or not. I believe Vatanen is traded.

Vatanen could miss the first 2-3 months of the season
I think teams will shy away from him bc of the uncertainty...
basically forcing them to move Manson instead

He also wants to develop guys more slowly too though
I could see it go either way with Guhle
Depends what other defense we can get here

Nothing as of yet, don't know if Botterill has met with that part of the staff as of yet.

he already has Stephens, Nelson and Martin for rochester

Austin will probably be brought back

Bodie, Burgdoerfer are 2 guys if they bring back, that's 6 before signing a scrub or 2 for down there

I'd like Guhle to spend a little time in Rochester.... Lets not rush these guys. While he looked great here, for the limited time he was here. he still needs to add some weight to his frame IMHO.

His timeline is towards the end of pre season and start of the season. Not 2 to 3 months into the season.
- poisondhearts37

"Lindholm will out for four to five months, and Vatanen will be sidelined “longer,” Murray says."

4 months is the start of the season
5 months misses October
Vantanen out "longer"
Which means he misses at least 2 months

Neither Bodie or Burgdorfer should be brought back
Martin was so bad he was sent to the ECHL, where he continued to suck (-14 or something like that)
Stephens... meh... depth guy down there

All Rochester really has for decent-good defensemen are
Austin & Nelson

Numbers don't matter if they blow

It's going to depend on how Botterill views this season. If it's a building season, then Guhle can stay in the minors. If Botterill and the coach believe that it's reasonable to expect to be in the hunt, then Guhle plays in Buffalo IMO. AIt also depends on whether we can add meaningful D men through FA or trades.

This team isn't deep enough to have Guhle play in Rochester if he's good enough for the NHL. If he's good enough to be here, he needs to be here.

I think Gorges is gone...
which opens up 2 spots

So it depends on who J Botts can bring in

I actually have hope for that kid, he had a fabulous season last year... he could be a real prospect in a couple seasons

He needs to be where his development will be helped the most
Gotta be thinking what's best for the player long term...
not what's best for the Sabres now

Maybe...
but he'll be an AHL rookie
Same with Florentino

They'll be depth guys down there this year

We can't be expecting them to anchor the Rochester defense right away
It's still a learning curve joining a new league

Rochester's defense will still need help asap

The NHL is a results based business

He ends up in Buffalo if he is ready for Buffalo.

Worst case is he starts in Buffalo and gets sent to Rochester if he isn't ready.
