Karlsson would put up an insane amount of points in our system. He's on the ice nearly 30 min a nice. Our forward grouping is the best in the league. He would pick up 30 secondary assists where he just touched the puck before other guys did things.

If he makes it to free agency he should seriously consider us on a below market deal. If he's going to go down as an all-time great he needs the stats he would put up here and some cups.

- sditulli

Nobody does that. I wouldn't expect the best defenseman since Lidstrom (at least) to start the trend. Besides, he definitely won't need the stats playing in Pittsburgh, as he's already on pace to be top 50 all time as early as next season.

Congrats on the win! With all the injuries I am not sure how you keep winning but I hope you get 4 more.

Interesting enough, Rinne stats against the Pens lifetime

1-5-2, .880 save % 3.57 GAA

The Pens are the team he's played the worst against in his career.

- cap1681

Prior to last night, the Pens were 0-7 in Game 7's following a Game loss. These stats mean nothing.

I'm big on the bring back Kunitz camp and not just because of last year. I think theirs a role for a Cullen type in bottom 6. Former top 6 guy whose ages out of it. Then you can bring up your young guns and have a teacher on their line who knows everything. It's one thing to have a coach tell you something. It's another thing to have a 3 or 4 time cup winger whose battling with you and seeing things on the ice telling you what to do. I think Cullen has certainly helped the development of guys like rust and sheary when they were his line mates. My guess is Cullen is done. He seems to be slowing this year. Kunitz can fill his bottom 6 leadership role. And stylistically Kunitz always played a style that fits for the fourth line.

Forward depth is important. I wouldn't want to go into next year with sprong sundqvist etc already in the lineup. Injuries will happen and you need depth.

- sditulli

Bring back Kunitz is something I feel you look at after you fill the 3C and defenseman holes. Then you have to see if there is a spot because right now there isn't. Sundqvist and Pouliot have to clear waivers so they probably make the team even if it's the bench spots. Archibald to though he may still be sent on waivers. But that gives us 12 forwards and 6 defenseman already. That leaves one spot for 3C. Signing Kunitz right now means carrying 14 forwards, sending Archibald through waivers, and no chance for Ashton-Reese or Sprong to make the roster with a great camp.

Now if they lose a forward or two from expansion or trade and have a little money left after the bigger needs, I'd be all for it. I've wondered if he would retire though, guy has literally done it all and the paydays and role are decreasing.

Prior team stats mean nothing because it was a completely different team. That 0-7 includes teams from the 90s.

Um the Caps series they went into game 7 with a loss in game 6. Or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

Also the pens have beaten the Caps every year they won the cup. They also had a coach in the first year as head coach for the pens every cup win. All these are cool stats IMO, but meaningless like you said.

Sure he plays a style that fits the fourth line but how many times do we see him continually get into the top 6. Injuries are a part of it but even then he shouldn't be there. Kunitz brought it big time last night but it's time to move on from him. Lets face it those were his first goals since February.

I believe the actual stat was 0-7 at home after losing game 6 (on the road.)

I just saw on TSN that a fan in Nashville just paid $12,000 for a front row seat. That's some serious love for your team. The hockey culture they've created down there is amazing. I think the Pens will also thrive off the energy though. I think Sid likes it when he gets poop talked by the crowd.

Man.. does it just feel so great to be a pens fan..

We are truly spoiled and we should not ever forget that. There are teams that have been in the league just as long as us that have never had the chance to celebrate the cup one time. RW is extremely correct when talking about how fantastic the Crosby/Malkin era has been to Pittsburgh and that just cannot be understated.

What a fantastic series and hats off to Ottowa and especially Anderson and Karlsson to nearly perfect performances each and every night. (Besides Anderson's birthday to forget) Ottowa has very much to be proud of, the refs on the other hand, do not.

Interesting to see Horny face off against his old team and RDJN (real deal James Neal) in the finals. I expect this series to be extremely fast paced and yield many scoring chances left and right. CANNOT WAIT. LGP!

I was working yesterday & couldn't follow any of the score in OT, but saw a couple of comments that I didn't understand about Philbo - not the diving ones.

How close that puck was from going in & yes from the first angle above it looked like it could have gone in - PHIL looked like a machine in the highlights in OT. Man possessed!

Great win, everyone not a Pens fan will say that's what hockey is all about - even though we shouldn't have even had to play game 7 if the truth be known (right? ).

Amazing story this season so far, amazing achievement to date considering what we have been up against & accomplished without personnel that really should have sounded our death warrant(s).

As I said yesterday, if/when we go back to back & finish raising Stanley this season, I believe it will go down as being the greatest Cup win any team has had.

Boys looked absolutely gassed raising the conference cup didn't they??

Stats are fine for him. But he could put up video stats here. He does need cups to be an all time great which will be a problem in ottawa

Yes we are lucky to have these great players. Many like to point out their talent level as the reason for success. I would say they all also have a fire in their bellies to win. I would also say somehow Sullivan is able to get them to channel that energy strictly into the hockey itself. They are no longer disturbed or distracted by the taunting and goading.

This has been Sullivan's legacy. It's perhaps greater than the X's and O's and player decisions. Maybe. I think both teams have great coaches that put the emphasis on playing the game for the hockey technique and art of hockey, nothing else. To me that is more commendable than anything else in this Stanley Cup final.

These stats do mean something. Pekka Rinne faced the Pens 7 times and won once. Was that Renne, or the team in front of him (a good question)? Still it is interesting and with Renne playing way above his career GAA, perhaps it is time for some reversion?

How does that have anything to do with the Pens 0-7 at home in game 7 after a game 6 loss? Completely different coaching staff for the Pens, where Pekka...is still Pekka, yes?

I was at the game and it was the weirdest playoff vibe I've ever experienced. 18,000 plus sitting nervously on their hands and going: holy crap, what's going to happen? Will a random goal decide it?

Unlike last year's game 7 when the place was above 100 decibels from the opening face-off.

This one sounded like a game in February, until Kunitz scored.
