Sens simply sat back too much in OT. Pens dmen were coughing it up under pressure. The longer it went, you knew the Pens would eventually score.
Now the question becomes, who will they lose in expansion draft. Do they have to protect Burrows and Smith? - Ottawa Fan
I don't think they have to protect either of those guys, but will likely protect Smith. I am almost certain that unless one of them is traded, (or they make a side deal with Vegas to take someone else) then one of Methot or Ceci will be gone. |

The Senators were out of gas. There was nothing left in the tank. Anderson was the only reason they were still in the game Give him credit for keeping the Sens in it but it was only a matter of time. Murray was solid again and was throughout the series. The Penguins were the fresher team thru the game and it showed in the O/T Hats off to both teams for an entertaining series |

I think Methot or Claesson, unfortunately (I've heard he's draft eligible) - no way Cody Ceci is exposed.

I hope Chabot plays a year on the AHL.......there is absolutely no need to rush him into the lineup. If they throw him, plus white, Brown, chaplik, hogberg, etc, into belleville next year ig should be a really good team which will be a hood environment for them all to be in and dwvelop - sensarmy_11
Agreed let them develope, try trading with Minnesota, Anaheim, Carolina? Maybe sign smith /stone for a 4/5 spot for depth? Another dman and forward could /should hopefully push the team over the top, plus a healthy Karlsson p.s. great run! |

The Senators had no right being in the ECF. But, that team deserves everything they accomplished this past season. What an incredible run! I didn't think that roster had the ability to knock off the Rangers, and I certainly didn't see them sticking with the Pens.
Congratulations! |

Next year will be interesting. A lot of teams will or should be better. (toronto. florida and tampa). Hopefully this run is a sign of things to come, and the young guys can take another step forward. Im confident they can and will. |

They won rounds 1 and 2, and earned the right to be in the ECF finals, but hey, okay, sure. |

Some people follow sports for joy. Others do it to give themselves more opportunities to be horse's patoots. It's really too bad they can't just celebrate with their fellow fans. - bodiva88
Some people bring it on themselves, by being asses and spending YEARS rubbing other people's faces in it.
You think maybe that has happened once or twice here?

I don't see Boston regressing and they'll probably be healthier
Another year experience on the Flyers Defense and they may be better.
NYI and Carolina could conceivably be better.
The Sabres should be better.
The Leafs and the Sens both might be in tough with a whole bunch of other teams in the east just for a playoff spot.

I just wanted to say Erik Karlsson is a great team captain and ambassador for the game. His post game comments were both stoic and classy. He is so wise for being so young and just entering into his prime. It's tough that someone had to lose this game but I have nothing but the utmost respect for Karlsson and the Senators team.
The future is clearly bright in the Capital city and I wish you good luck in the future.

For what it is worth, the Sens had me at the edge of my seat in this series the most out of the past 7 the Pens have been involved in that past two cup runs. I loved the story line behind Ottawa's team, lots of good vibration things happening there. It was an amazing run for the team/city/fans.
@Mattstat....you know that "image" the Pens fans get for being cocky, arrogant, whiney emotional fans....you embody that image. Take some behaviour notes from the team you cheer for and be classy. |

Boston could very easily regress. In fact, I think it's a near guarantee they do within the next year or two. It might be a dip, like an adjustment period, but Chara is 40, and still their number 1 dman (by far the most ice time on the team). their top 2 centres, Bergeron and Krejci, are 31 years old. And Bergeron, who is really the engine that runs that team, is pretty fragile.
They've got some good youth, but when Chara retires, that's a big hole to fill. With several key players on the downside, when it comes time for that youth to fully take over, there will definitely be a few down years. |

Clearly they did, seeing how they were a goal away from the SCF. You don't get that close to the dance by not deserving it. They had every right in the world to be there, Sens are a great team, with a ton of talent, well rounded roster and a smart coach who knows how to expose and capitalize on other teams weaknesses. |

They played well and at times, played way above themselves.
They earned the right to play game 7 last night for sure...but they could have easily missed the playoffs.
Lets see what the off season brings.
Is Ryan a keeper? I would think so eh? |

Unless they're able to make a trade or convince Phaneuf to waive his NMC (which isn't impossible), it will almost certainly be Karlsson, Phaneuf, and Ceci that are protected. Methot becomes the obvious target if Vegas wants a PK anchor who could yield a decent draft pick at the trade deadline in a year or two. The real question is how much of his value the Golden Knights attribute to playing 20min/gp with Karlsson.
In terms of the depth blue liners, the guy that really impressed me was Claesson... he seemed quite capable of playing up and down the pairings, was playing "bigger" than his actual size, showed more offensive awareness than I was expecting, and routinely made good decisions even under pressure. I also thought that Harpur looked really promising - though I'd like to see him add a bit more roughness to his game.

Yeah Claesson stood out as someone who could be a solid blue-liner...
Methot could be a target for Vegas but his game really shined when the refs put away the whistles.

What exactly do you guys see in Ceci that is so worthy of protection? Honest question. I saw nothing more than a bottom pairing defenseman, and his numbers reflect that as well, IMO. |
