It's an off year.....now why in the (frank) would he want a change of scenery? Seriously, as a player who hasn't won at the NHL level, you would think Edmonton game he's you a pretty good chance in the next few years.

Maybe he wants to go because he's had enough of the Edmonton market (i.e. scapegoatting?). It's a competitive league - there's a few teams a highly-skilled player could go to in order to win.

That sucked watching Shultz score that goal last night. Gets out of Edmonton and goes on to win one and possibly two cups in less than 18 months.

I'll buy that. This town rips players apart .Grant Fuhr, Jason Arnott, Justin Schultz...I imagine its pretty hard for players to escape the criticism.

I like Ebs, he's a sick talent. If he gets moved , I wonder where they real lace the 50+ points every year. Lucic has probably flatlined with last years totals, which she s fine production, as has Nuge , and I wouldn't expect any increases, Maroon likely had his career season last year and I expect a drop in goals next year...

The only thing I hate about it is that he's shooting from the point on the PP and its something he all but refused to do as an Oiler. The Penguins basically re-taught him how to play and now he's effective again. It only bothers me that nobody figured out how to get through to him here in Edm.

Nah, it's not about him wanting out.

It's not about "effort" either. That's such a tired reason. He tried hard, just wasn't getting any bounces and had his worst shooting % in his career.
All that said, dude still had 20 goals, 51 points and was 3rd in team scoring.
The only reason it's spoken off like it was such a huge off year is cause hes scored at a first liner clip pretty much his whole career.

He struggled in the playoffs and that may have finished his career in edm cause he gets paid 6 mil, but I don't think pc is as shortsighted as most fans.
Depending on the right trade for a defender, we could be better off moving him, but it's a gamble with what we've got to replace him.
Or maybe if we make a move elsewhere, we can trade him for a loss/cap dollars savings

But I'll bet anything it's not a foregone conclusion that's ebs is done here just yet

Just be happy he wrote a new blog so you don't have to keep scrolling to the bottom of the HB homepage to find the oilers thread.
