Both lindholm and vatanen out til possibly November or longer with torn labrums ....this doesn't bode well for their expansion draft trades - Redmile247
What's on your mind Red? How does this affect the Ducks? |

I think it drops the D mans value ...or they trade a healthy one and play two months already down one regular ... |

I think Fowler was always the odd man out anyways |

Probably right as 2018 free agent looking for a bump in already decent pay doesn't bode well for cap tight team. |

Yeah that's probably the case
They should be able to get a nice piece for him ....starting the season without two top 4 guys will be tough as well |

KB tore his MCL during the playoffs ...only misses 9 games ...man the ducks were depleted |

Another good example of drafting and developing D well ....they even have two more guys almost ready to make the jump to the NHL |

Right. But we were talking further about after the draft if he's not picked. Where he turns 20 July 2nd. You said they have to wait until the end of his college season (March 2018). Just curious what prevents that? - Nuck4U
If he isn't picked. I guess then he does become a free agent no matter his age because he was passed over in the draft twice. |

Sounds like Benning wont be looking to trade Tanev or Edler as per Kuzma
Linden should have just shut his mouth and not even bothered to mention Rebuild

You think he is seriously going to keep them all ? Or just trying to make it appear this way ? |

It's real. I heard a few times last year and recently that he believes players earn their NTC . He has said he is not really interested in picks anymore.
I think he believes we are in a very comfortable spot right now with our prospect pool.
I am losing faith in this team's management. |

Jim Benning: "As we’re transitioning young players, if we have solid goaltending on a night-to-night basis, we can be competitive." #Canucks
Again I take this as a mixed message, rebuild and being competitive.
To me it sounds like one more shot at the can.
I know someone will say he means mentor and transition , but to me that is like being almost pregnant |

we should draft Liljegren so we can emulate the Ottawa model , a star swede d-man , a bunch of nobody plugs and some overpaid has beens and a cast off goalie that nobody wanted, it might get us to the cup |

Gotta wonder how long or short his leash is ...he seems to be able to find guys late in the draft ...his trades are much like most GMs ...some good some bad ...same with his contracts. He just comes across as a guy you dont want to speak to the media |

It seems to me that's what you want to hear, not what he is saying.
What I got from it that he doesn't plan on trading them unless he gets his socks knocked off.
Its not mentoring or transition, it's allowing the kids to develop. |

I can see some of his views but they are hard to stomach. Bringing back Miller tells me they made a bad signing with Markstrom.
I have seen so many bad signings here in the last ten years and with Gillis also. The team really does paint itself into a corner.
I would like to see an experienced management group come in here and clean house. |

You are flip flopping again. So do you want a completer tire fire tear down or a team that tries to compete with a few veterans on the roster? |

Most teams "prospect" pools have only about 5 or 6 players at anytime that look like legit NHL players. |

lol i know . we could potentially have a Nash vs Ott series which would have 2 teams that didn't tank , didn't suck for years straight to get high picks , and drafted shrewdly and made excellent trades and signings . so with respects to them i do understand how JB might be thinking that , with a few more moves and some progression from the players we have , we could see strong improvement |

No , I get that side of it. He wants a bunch of players that have not won in the NHL to remain as the pillars of the team.
Tanev does not hit and does not put up points so I am not a fan of his or turn the other cheeck Edler or the twins. I would rather they were sheltered by players closer to the style I like. |

I don't get why they wouldn't go with markstrom for no other reason than to see what you have ...give him the ball a let him either run with it or drop it
Some of his more recent signings aren't too bad ... good value for some young guys
Who would you ideally want to come in ? |

I have not liked the Twins Edler or Tanev for years and years (well documented in here) so I am not flip flopping.
I believe you can trade Edler and Tanev get value and pick up two replacements in free agency to shelter younger players. |
