I feel like asking the refs to call it properly is asking too much these days. Just hoping there isn't any egregious calls favouring one team over the other.
- DonnyG33

Agreed. Refs are going to let tons of garbage go uncalled. Just hope a great series for a trip to the finals doesn't get decided by them.

Putting Sheary back in might be a good call. I really thought he had been one of the worst Pens forwards prior to them sitting him but it could be the right call now. Maybe he just needed to heal a bit and it can also help your game watching from the press box. He scored some clutch goals for the Pens last year so it might be worth the shot. Nothing against Archie who has played pretty well.

Also hope Horny can make it back in the lineup. Pens could really use him on the PP to attract some attention away from Crosby. Guentzel doesn't fit the need on the 1st PP, so I'd rather even have Kunitz there instead to crash the net and get in Anderson's face.

I still cant decide what I want more... to see the Pens win or to see Melnyk lose.... Lets go Pens!

- MacPatty

you mean Geuntzel, the guy with 3 points in 40 minutes of PP time doesn't fit the need more than Hornqvist, the guy with 1 points in 39 minutes of PP time? Seems legit.

I think he means the more in the goalie's face approach of Horny as opposed to the more skill but less annoying style that Jake brings.

Guentzal has looked great in his limited PP time, especially right around the net. He has way better hands than Horny...but maybe not quite as tenacious as Horny around there.

You guys see this? https://www.hockeyfeed.co...-if-he-entered-his-crease

Anderson was ready to start swinging his stick at players in his crease game 6. So get in his crease often and early in this game. Make him take bad penalties.

If he thinks Geno is bad he's got a surprise coming if Horny is playing.

Hornquist doesn't get points when Malkin, Schultz and Crosby score goals because the goalie cant see the shots coming. He also takes attention off of Crosby at the side of the net so one of their D cant just maul him because they will be busy mauling Horny.

Guentzel would be better used on the 2nd unit where the puck can flow through him.

I don't think theres much of a difference between Jake or Horny in front of the net. Guentzel has better hands for tips. It doesn't take skill to stand there.

It takes strength to stay there though, no denying Horny has the edge in that department. Doesn't make a difference if Horny isn't 100%

This. Jake has more skill but he's just an extra guy in the slot on that first unit. Think his only ppg came on the second unit. If Hornqvist is on the ice, Methot or Phaneuf has to deal with moving him in front instead of tackling Crosby.

Man, I think Guentzel is great but he is not close to Hornquist in a net front position. He plays hard but he has been getting manhandled. It does take skill to work in front of the net, part of it being able to take the punishment without getting put on your ass and taken out of the play.

Guentzel has much more overall skill but Hornquist is probably second only to Sid when it comes to deflecting the puck. I can't believe this is even up for debate. I'd rather see Guentzel work from Sid's position on PP2 where I think he could be very effective.

I will bet that the refs call a closer game tonight and the poop that went uncalled gets called at least somewhat tonight.

Hope so, but I think they will only call the blatantly obvious ones. Fingers crossed the Pens already got all of the delay of game and too many men penalties out of their system!

The NHL should go the way of baseball and have the same referees do a complete series.

Guentzel had 2 deflection goals in 40 games, Hornqvist had 0 deflection goals in 70 games this season.

Oh, Guentzel also had 3 total deflections in 40 games, Hornqvist has 2 in 70.

Hornqvist actually hasn't had a deflection goal since he's joined the Penguins.

None of this hornie vs jake debate regarding the power plays really matters if geno phil and sid are not doing geno phil and sid like things. I happen to like having two somewhat potent power plays that can go out there and produce. Not all situations give a team the luxury of always loading up on one pp. Also it seems to me that teams tend to relax somewhat when our pp2 comes over the boards. Almost like they think they killed it if sid geno and phil don't score. So having quality available when those guys are tired is great. As previously mentioned jake looked even better on the pp when he is on pp2. Hornie does in fact draw some attention away from sid down low. And let's be honest, if sid geno and phil cannot score or generate enough then hornie or jake will not make a significant difference.

My stats were from the regular season, giving you a larger sample size of Horny's work. 2 of those were deflections (1 from the playoffs, 1 from the regular season), one he swung at, one was a back hand rebound he picked up. I'll give you 2 of the 4.

While Anderson really played well in the last game, I thought he was able to see a lot of our shots. I'm a big believer in having someone like Hornie screening and annoying the tender. Some games it doesn't matter.....and some games it's the only way to get a goal.

On another note, I can't believe Sheary is getting back in.

Hopefully he has a short leash, the guy has become a turnover machine.
