No thanks
He's still ok, but clearly on the down swing
And that contract is brutal

- jdfitz77

Was just going to say, "Contract is brutal for 50 something points", but I reported the post on accident instead.

I don't like admitting guilt or wrong, so I'll just stand behind the reporting...how could you say something like this?!

So Vatanen and Lindholm out months
- sbroads24

I'm guessing that means they won't be trading Vatanen
He's supposedly out past the start of next season,
so it's unlikely they'd get good value for him

I think that means they probably move Manson now
They're probably extending Fowler

If it by any chance means we have a shot at Lindholm,
Then sign me up!

I liked Manson during that last series... He likes to pound the poop out of everyone.

Just was a rumor at the time, but I guess Vanek would have came here last season. He may want to be on a contender now, but scuttlebutt had it that he would have accepted coming to the lowly Sabres a year ago.
- RhinoFan

No thanks to Vanek
I thought we wanted to get faster up front
At this point,
he's a better version of Moulson
3rd liner, PP specialist
And he'd be on PP2 on our team unless we trade Sam

I'd rather have Pominville if it gets me a deal on a Minny defenseman

Neal &/or Nash could be trade options that shouldn't cost much

I've been talking about him since last year when we first started bringing up Ducks defensemen to trade for

if gionta had an a instead of a c, would he get all this hate?

he is a perfect 3rd liner and if he wants to come back for 1 year in the 2.5 to 2.75 mil range sign him after expansion draft

he does need to give up the c though

I think Neal gets more than Kane if he has a good finals

I'm still up in the air about it because I think guys like Bailey/Baptiste/Fasching/Nylander need more time. If I could grab Vanek for a year, I think I'd be tempted...

All this is true though, he isn't who he was with us before...he'd be a decent 2PP winger and give us some secondary scoring behind Jack, Kane, RoR, Okposo and Samson. Neal and Nash would be much better options, but it's all about cost.

I think what the people really want is to know about WNY Catholic high schools.

Likewise. Was a Preds fan for a long time because one of my old goalie coaches was with the team when Dunham and Vokoun were there, but the Ducks were always up there just because of those two.

True story, I have a Mike Dunham bobble head.

That's a keeper. He's one of the nicest players I've gotten the chance to meet. I guess he's goalie coaching for the Islanders now of all places.

So because Baptiste has the speed means he ends up on the first line?

Vanek doesn't belong anywhere near a NHL top 6

Ennis is not a top 6 forward either.

Eichel should be able to carry the weight himself but that doesn't mean you just plug and play other guys.

Pittsburgh also has guys like Malkin and Kessel to fall back on if the Crosby line isn't producing. The Sabres do not have that kind of depth.

- Stripes77

I'll go a step further and say if this is the lineup going into next year, Jack never signs long-term and it out as soon as he can.

Glad that we finally signed Antipin. He has to be better than some of the stiffs we had on the back end this year. Expect Top 6 but hope for Top 4. Progress.

A step in the right direction hopefully. Will have to see what he does, but yeah I'd assume he's better than Fedun or Falk who played substantial minutes this last year.

At this point we just need competent d-men, that alone will be an upgrade.

Perry has only scored 40goals ONCE in the last 6 years
He's Still pretty good, but slowing down

And his contract is freaking brutal

Well put
I just think I'd rather play Bailey or Baptiste at this point
But if we do sign Vanek,
I'd hope it's only a 1 year deal

I would take Vanek for 1 year just so we could have someone score in shootouts
