couldn't agree with this more. next year, pick ups and trade season, we need some changes. #failedseason
Lets go Preds i guess - Maverick1818
I was rooting for them and Nashville in secret the whole playoffs. Glad you can agree. I hated the wussy-footing they were doing. They didn't even have a shot on net until halfway through the first OT. That's unacceptable. Someone forgot to tell them next goal wins and to play like there's no tomorrow.
Now, there is no tomorrow for them.
And I just hate seeing the same (frank)ing 5 teams win over and over again in 3 of the 4 major sports. At least in baseball steroids make a level playing field now.
Whoever says there is parity in the NHL/NFL/NBA is on crack. It's not even close. All this talk about how there's so much talent and that's why it's so hard to score or whatever. Bullocks. There's a very, very, large, almost galaxy sized discrepancy between the best players in the league (again, all 3 aforementioned sports) and the worst.
Yeah, right, Nic Deslauriers is just a good skating coach away from being Malkin. |

Gents, I know it stings, but great series. Anderson was simply tremendous. Lots to be proud of in Ottawa. |

Glad the Sens lost, but holy poop they made a good run. Ottawa fans should be very proud and happy of their team making it as far as they did. Not being a Richardbag, honestly it's good for your team and you as fans that they got so far. |

Proud fan. Hope we can make something happen in the offseason to get a better team (because let's be honest, this was all the system).
Congrats Penguins, you were the better team. |

Damn, I'm not even trying to troll here but why on Earth would you be proud of your team for blowing it like this? I certainly wasn't proud of the Sabres when they lost to the Stars in the Cup Finals, nor was I proud of them when they made the back to back conference finals runs.
I love my team and the Senators had a great run this post-season. But unless you're 1 of the final 2, there's nothing to be proud of. Just my opinion here, though and I'm not trying to bash the Senators at all because in all seriousness, (frank) the Penguins lol
There was absolutely no fore-check from Ottawa in either OT period. I was flabbergasted. You guys sure Tim Murray wasn't upstairs with his beady eyes glaring a hole though the team? |

When your roster is absolutely dominated skill wise by the other teams' roster and you get it down to basically a 50% chance in the last game you did a great job, hence us fans being proud. |

again I 100% agree, it's an "participation gets a trophy" mentality and it's the reason we'll never win a cup |

no, we didn't lose the cup on mentality. We lost it because we want to be a budget team and trade a guy like Zibanejad for Brassard + a 2nd. As long as that doesn't change our chances are slim to win a cup. Are you saying it was up to the mentality of the players today? |

absolutely yes, our players were defending when they should have been attacking, they barely hit, all you have to do is look at the shot count, that was pathetic. Ottawa deserves better. |

Pittsburgh was better than us in OT. We could only roll 3 lines because Kelly and Dzingel are useless. Therefore, our forwards were gassed and were being changed very quickly. Every time we got the puck, it was time for a change. bad coaching maybe, and bad roster decisions certainly, but I'm not going to complain about a goddamn thing because the RUN was magical, regardless of its outcome.

They took a clearly more talented and frankly better Penguins team to double OT in the 7th game of the conference finals. I hate they way they play, but they were a worthy opponent and damn near stole the series.

they were certainly playing like it. They were playing like we were defending a lead, not in double OT of a conference final |

Murray stepping in changed the whole atmosphere of the series.
Sucks really bad right now, but honestly it was only awaiting the inevitable. Pens were the better team, not only this game, but overall throughout the series.
I know it's not worth talking about, but why Boucher felt the need to play Kelly, when he hasn't played in awhile is beyond me. |

Uh Boucher uses a 1-3-1, that's the system that got this team within a goal of the finals. Get that far then change it up in OT? |

The Senators deserve better fans than this. I understand this from fans of other teams, but you do understand there is a 1/30 (soon to 1/31) chance of winning a Cup in a given season right?
If you don't give a team credit for a heart-filled run, and refuse to give them credit except literally the day the hoist a Cup, you have unreasonable expectations of something that will probably happen once or twice in your lifetime |

i'm sorry thats a losing mentality. There is no prize for runner up. yes it's going to be a 1/31 chance, but that means 30 teams are going to fail and one isn't. Sports are about winning and we didn't. |

Being a fan is also appreciate when your team plays well and doesn't win. That doesn't have anything to do with a winning mentality or not, especially not as fans, but also love for the game. I rather watch this then no play offs and no excitement.
But it is important that the guys up the ice have that winning mentality and I've seen that in game 6 (huuuge win) and today (two comebacks). If you haven't seen that, then you're blind and ignorant. They gave everything and more but just weren't good enough, meaning the roster has to improve or the system has to be tweaked. |
