They listed neil as a bad personality despite the fact that he probably does more charitable work in the community then all but a handful of NHLers........so who knows - sensarmy_11
Maybe most of us are unqualified to comment on other team's player's off-ice personalities
My perception of players is very closely linked to how they play on the ice. You would certainly THINK Neil was a douchebag by the way he played, but then he goes and surprises you... Same with Malkin, I guess.
Meh, take out Sid and Malkin and you guys are likely gone way earlier.Your defense isnt what has gotten you cups is all what i have been saying .The forwards have owned the pucks and the boards this entire series. And reme, ber you cant score if you dont have the puck

Which is why their defense is so vital to their success and why Pens fans are saying they how much their injuries matter.

I listed Neil based on his on-ice personality, which is what I thought Mr_Clean was referring to when he called Malkin unlikeable. Were you basing him being unlikeable based on on-ice or off-ice perosnality, Mr_Clean? Not being a Richard, just askin lol
he also has a bad rep for complaining to refs early in his career. - Ftown19125
And i won't deny that. He did whine a lot when he was younger. But that's something he's grown out of, yet has followed him around through all he's accomplished. I think what pisses me off that the guy get hate thrown his way from everywhere because he is a) successful and the most talented in the game, and b) gets shoved down the throats of NHL fans by the NHL(which is something he or Pens fans have never asked for).

Things like this are what I was referring to from Bobby Ryan. - j.boyd919
It's a holistic assessment, where I take the way a player plays, the team they play for, the things I've heard them say, and their body language and then decide hastily whether I like them or not.
As for that article, I had not seen nor heard of it. Pretty disturbing to me, given my own values. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there are some openly xenophobic/potentially racist players, but still makes me like Ryan significantly less.

b) is basically what I said on the last page before you lambasted me

Yeah no, I agree. There's just some players you see on the ice.. you're like.. that dude is a scumbag. Corey Perry, Ryan Kesler, Brad Marchand, Rinaldo.. those are a few guys that come to mind. I could see how people thing Malkin is too, to be honest. Every player plays dirty sometimes, some more than others. Except Datsyuk.

I think if you saw some of Malkin's off ice shenanigans, you would like him. Dude is actually really funny in interviews/locker room type stuff. - j.boyd919
my sources tell me that they once saw Crosby and Malkin walking down the street.... they couldn't believe their eyes when they saw Crosby steal candy from a baby and then Malkin kicked the kid's dog......disgraceful

Time to dig deep
This is what they play for
Every player dreams of playing in big Game 7 like this
Stick to the game plan
Carpe Diem
Do or Die
Go Big or Go Home
Nothing comes easy in this league
Bring your "A" game
Defense wins championships
Do the little things right and the rest will come
Blood, sweat, and tears boys
You snooze, you lose
Take one for the team
We're all in this together
Manage your emotions
It's a mental game
Work to your strengths
Get into the dirty areas
Put pucks on net and good things will happen
Time to give 110%
Go Sens Go!!! - AlfieFever

I mean, I probably won't be going out to by his jersey anytime soon, but certainly puts him in a better light - Mr_Clean
Oh, btw... when I was in high school... and the Pens sucked really bad.. there was no one on the team who's jersey I wanted... so I got a Daniel Alfredsson jersey for Christmas. Just thought you guys should know that. One of my favorite players ever.
Gonna be a tense few hours before the game. Hopefully the Sens pull this off. Would love to go downtown for some orderly, government sanctioned celebration.
Who is better: Wingels or Kelly? I feel like they're pretty closely matched, but who should draw in for the game tonight? I feel like it might be good luck to give Kelly the nod. He's still quick and can be a threat and he's responsible defensively...

He was a dandy
While we're on the common ground topic, I remember being really excited as a kid that Johan Hedberg had that run with the Penguins. Manitoba Moose guy, raptured up to the NHL, beat the Caps and the Sabres. My favourite Pens player (also a big fan of Letang's) and a pretty awesome childhood memory.

100% Wingels for me. Kelly can't skate for poop, defensive positioning is not as much of a need against Pittsburgh as team speed, after spending most of the last two games standing passively in front of our net we need to be ready to play a tighter-checking game through the neutral zone to force turnovers... Kelly can't do that half as well as Wingels.

Ha i have the same fond memories of that occasion!
And of Mario returning. I didn't watch hockey really when he played before/was too young for his first foray through the league.
Looking at his stats, He got 199 points one year, that's insane. Am I the only one who'd be a little bummed out by that? Like, so close to 200.
