If leafs take Vatanen and Bieksa what do the Leafs got to give ?

I really believe the Ducks want soley players that are exempt from the draft.

I think Kap +

I actually think that's the best way to get a D out of Anaheim...taking Bieksa. I watched him in the playoffs and I don't mind his game at all...still has a lot of snarl. But I would change it to Manson instead of Vatanen....Manson is much more of a bad ass.

Not sure what it would take but I think if we take Bieksa, because he waives, JVR could go the other way instead of a prospect. We will take salary and help them with player protection for the expansion draft so they would be covered.

Rielly, Manson
Gardiner, Zaitsev
Dermott, Bieksa

That looks so much better than last year and so much tougher. I like it.

Lesson learned Jimi...lessen learned. Although it took 237 guys before it hit home for me.

his kill count must be higher than that.

I think both would be excellent players for us.

I do prefer Vatenen however. He's Locked in to a good contract and can play in all situations.

And has a great shot. Which is what we need

My belief is that IF a trade happens to work out, Mason will be a pre exspantion draft trade, and it will be for non protection player/pick,Then a trade involving a roster player for one more d,and wouldn't be to surprised if a depth D is signed in free agency? Maybe!

I saw him in the Toronto airport. Well my buddy pointed him out to me and I asked why he was pointing out a little kid.

Literally looks 12.

I don't think they do a deal involving Bieksa. He would probably have to be protected with that no movement clause? That defeats the purpose.. they're already protecting Reilly and Gardiner, add in Bieksa and whoever else they get would be left unprotected anyway.

Anaheim either buys him out, or if he waives his NMC a team like the Yotes who have really nobody else worth protecting might have a go at it.

Not really sure Dubas is going to go over to the Avs at all. Would have to be a far better job than he has now. He wouldn't make a lateral move before in the past so why would he suddenly now? He is being groomed to follow after Lou and unless that changed internally I think it more likely he is going to stick around.

Ya it's hard to predict, but going to a rebuilding team he could possibly put his stamp on, will be enticing? Obviously he's with a rebuilding team now !but it will depend on how much say hell have in trades /picks?imho

You might be right. I have just been leaning towards toughness with skill....only because we have Marner, Nylander, GARDINER, Rielly and Zaitsev....not too much SNARL there.

I want somebody to clear the crease and punish dudes. Manson seems to be that guy.

But any upgrade will do.

Yep. Something like that.

I think we can all agree that Lou and team will make some moves....maybe not big ones....but at least moves that will make the team a little better on D next year.

Jays sweep Milwaukee. With help coming back this weekend, hopefully they can go on a run.
- bryant

Jays suck. I said it before the year started.

1. Starting rotation over performed last year. No way they could keep it up.
2. Middle bullpen was one of the weakest in the league. Nothing done to upgrade.
3. Aging stars who would bat lower as they decline
4. holes remained in key positions like 1st, 2nd, LF and C.

(Smoak proved me wrong in point 4 and is having a good season)

1) Starting rotation has three pitchers that would be the ace of most staffs in Major League baseball (Sanchez, Estrada, Stroman)
2) Bullpen added Smith and will add more if they are in contention this year.
3) Bautista has been lights out lately, he hit a monster of a homer yesterday after being knocked down. At 35 he is a beast and could still hit 40 homers. Donaldson remains a top ten hitter, if anything Morales is hitting slightly better than Encarnacion to date - for about 60% of the price. The hitting lineup remains stacked.
4) Russell Martin has made the playoffs more than any single player I can recall for the Jays. Made it with 3 separate teams. Happ is not bad for a fourth starter. Martin remains a great catcher. Alford looked impressive before going down on an injury. 2nd is more than covered, Travis back to form, Goins one of the best backup middlefielders in baseball. Smoak has been good.

Biggest weakness to date is lack of depth, but not many teams would do well with $80 million on the DL and Osuna has been substandard, but has been much better lately. This team can make the playoffs again, and teams like Texas, Astros and Indians would not want to face them. So I guess I disagree with you mostly.

I agree. He's heir apparent, there's no one else who's inline for that job (Hunter would be a good fit, but I think he wants to scout).

Meh, whether he goes or stays...no huge loss or gain.
Glad to have him but he's replaceable.

Bullpen has been playing great.
They've had almost every player on dl.
The starting rotation is playing...two starters are on the dl.

So.
Ya.
Good for you...you predicted they would suck cause of all the injuries.
Also they just swept.

He does. I met him last summer at rookie development camp in Niagara Falls and got his autograph and a picture with him. It's really amazing how good he is when you see him in plain clothes. Lol
