Did anyone hate Vilardi...? Only criticism I saw was about his skating and if he's a true C at NHL level. Those points by posters were debatable issues on where he fell in top 5, right?!?

I don't like Vilardi but I won't complain if we select him (we won't). He should be a decent 2nd line winger in the NHL despite his skating issues.

Nobody got tossed out of the league for hitting Gretzky.

For years people were leery of hitting him because he had Semenko on his wing. Also, Gretzky was pretty damn hard to hit. They actually taught us at hockey camp how to go into a corner like he did.

Later on, aside from maybe a few players he was respected enough that people didn't want to try to hurt him.
