i could have gotten behind that except that you guys complain about the refs being against you far more than people say the refs favour you.......hell, your blogger basically just did an entire blog about the refs not treating the pens fairly.

you guys bring it on yourselves.

Uh... no. He wrote a blog stating that calls were missed on BOTH sides, and happened to have video evidence of the ones against the Penguins.

he put one sentence to appease the masses and then went on crying for an entire blog about how unfairly crosby was treated.

putting his little "disclaimer" in there doesn't mean his blog wasn't just crybaby bullpoop.

There were some notable events in this game. Many of them included Sidney Crosby being mugged. Before I share a few of the examples I want to point out that the Senators were the victim of many non-calls as well. This league is an equal opportunity provider of negligence. This is of course a Penguins themed blog and Sidney Crosby is the best player in the world so I am going to use those examples

At the end of the day, it's business.

Melnyk is setting a price point where basically only 17-20K people in the area can afford to/want to go on any given night.

Obviously, the same thing is happening in other places. I'm sure Pitt will sell out. I just posted it to show that not every single city will have all their tickets sold days before the game.

Not every market is like MTL/TO/NY/Chi where people will pay any damn amount the teams charge and sell the building out.

If you want to get into basic economics/business/supply vs demand, the best price to charge is the price where the very last ticket sold is minutes before the game starts. If tickets sell out too early, you didn't charge enough. If you don't sell out, you're charging too much.

Melnyk sold out 7 of 9 games, so as a businessman, he did a pretty good job. He should never complain to the media about it, though. He set the price and the fans acted accordingly.

I remember back in the playoff runs of the mid 2000s, I used to get nosebleeds for around $45-50. The cheapest ticket in round 1 this year was $90. Well higher than inflation over that time.

Last night had shades of 1996 when a trap happy lesser skilled team was able to maul their way to victory over Mario Lemieux and the Penguins.

sorry, but his little disclaimer about "there were calls missed on both sides" was just a transparent attempt to hide the fact that he's just a bitter little cry baby homer.

All fan bases complain about the refs, especially this time of year when the officiating is atrocious across the board. There are Sens fans on this board complaining about the refs from a game you guys won. Why is it such a big deal that Pens fans complain, only to be called a "whiny fanbase" when we do. This is the kind of crap i am talking about. Other fan bases like to put a spotlight on Pens fans complaining, even though their own fanbase does the exact same thing.

nobody here has complained about officiating.....they have pointed out missed calls that went against ottawa in response to pens fans who said that ottawa was gifted a game by the refs.

your blog is FILLED with fans who say that officiating decided the game last night.......when it VERY clearly wasn't close to a deciding factor.

There is a difference between whining and calling out a homer who wants people to think he isn't a homer.

Whining is saying "we lost because of the refs"......thats whining.

It was Anderson that won the game for you guys, nothing else. I can't speak for other fans, but personally i want to see the officiating consistent. Either call it or let it go. The penalty on Hansny that led to the 5-3 and the Sens tying it happened on both sides about 25 times that game.

Fact remains that if the officiating stays the same, it favors the Sens.

I don't read every single team's blogs on here. But the comments after a loss in the penguins blogs, even during regular season, are almost always blaming the refs in some capacity. It's insane.

Not taking anyone's side.....but you claim that officiating has favoured the sens when both teams have had the exact same amount of PP opportunities and the pens have actually had more time on the PP.......thats whining. You're making a claim that is completely unsubstantiated by facts.

No, if the officiating stays the same, as in very little called, it favors the Sens because the Penguins special teams have been much better than the Sens in this series.

Ah......thats not the way your post came across. Seemed like you were saying the refs are favouring the sens so far. Sorry if that's not what you meant.

To be fair, aside from that one game where pens went 3 for 3......special teams have been very even imo.

Depends, he also could be saying if the officiating stays the same that the game is going to favor the Sens because they are a team better equipped to deal with clutching, grabbing, and trapping (as evident by their 1-3-1 trap, which usually leads to some 'interference.' I watched it in person in Tampa while Boucher was there.) And the Pens don't really play that kind of game and could easily become frustrated with having to deal with that. I also don't think that's whining, it's just a reality.

It's not like the Pens didn't have their chances. They had plenty. Anderson just played out of his mind and the Sens converted the few chances they had. It wasn't really different than the 2 or 3 games the Pens won vs. Washington last round, in my opinion.

Ehh, its not even. Sens broke a 0-29 pp streak because of a 5-3, and their normal powerplay has not looked dangerous at all. Penguins PP is the much more dangerous squad. You can say if game 7 turns into a special teams battle, the Pens don't have the edge?

Pens have 5 PPGs to the Sens 1 PPG
