Yes, I would absolutely rather have a 31 year old Little over a 29 year old Tavares. Because Little might be $5 million, while Tavares will be $10 million. The extra 20~ points and arguably worse defensive play are not worth double the price to me.

Extra 20 points??? You seriously think Tavares with Laine, Ehlers, Connor, Wheeler, and Scheifele would only get 20 extra points, you are really off your rocker. Little is injury prone as his last 2 season have proved, you would only get 41 games per season (if that even) out of him for, which you want to pay 5 million for. I would rather pay the extra 5 and get full seasons out of Tavares, which he would do as a Jet as the hard minutes would split between him and Scheifele. In NYI, he has had to do it all by himself.

Had Little played the full season, he would've outproduced Tavares while also being better in his own end. Little had two fluke injuries back to back, with literally 0 indication or reason to believe that it might happen again. Same thing can happen to JT next year. Difference here is that Little has been steady since the lockout, while Tavares has been trending down slowly.

Didn't say better on the whole, just defensively. I also said performed better, which is true for this season. My original point was that Tavares will be close to decline, ridiculously overpaid, and not worth getting as the 2C when Little is already overqualified for the 2C role.
