Apparently the leafs, earlier in the season. Had a deal on the table according to TSN radio 1050.

Heard Bobby Mac on that same station this morning saying that any "trade discussions" earlier this year re. Nylander were completely fabricated media speculations.

I ask myself the same thing, every day

Honestly though, name one roster move the leafs have made that you think is attributable to Dubas.

I dont know i dont work for the leafs management.

I am assuming he had a hand in that massive sports analytics deal they created.
Keefe
Marlies
Prolly had a hand in the Nylander selection which looking back looks unreal. drafting at 8 we ended up with at best the best forward and at worst the 2nd best forward (so far)

To be fair. As Leafs fans, the bar for "outstanding goaltending" is pretty low.

By TSN?

I only caught the tail end of it where they were discussing the "apparent deal"...then they went into imaginary situations of "would you trade Nylander for ...."

No that was mostly their swedish scout. He really convinced the leafs management group that this guy had the most talent of the draft.

I doubt he goes, that team is a joke and this team is about to be a power house and Lou is ancient.

Im pretty sure Lou said (paraphrasing here) after his contract is up if you werent ready to be a gm it wouldnt be because of him. Or some poop like that.

Prolly not.

Dubas was hired about a month after the 2014 draft.

I dont know how you can know that.

The leafs hired Cam Charron who wrote for Canucks army.
Dubas had to have a hand in that.

At the time Cam was very high on Nylander, wrote an article where he did not see how he would fall to the Canucks at 6
https://canucksarmy.com/2...ofile-3-william-nylander/

Also he had Kapanen rated a lot higher than he was picked. I doubt its a coincidence he was in the Kessel trade

No. 13 – Jake Virtanen, Calgary Hitmen (WHL)

Virtanen is a very tempting name at No. 6. He’s big, scored a boatload of goals with a very good WHL team, and above all, is local. He was selected first overall in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft out of the Abbotsford Hawks, and also holds dual Canadian-Finnish citizenship. Something about the playing style of Esa Tikkanen injected into an Abbotsford kid scares the hell out of me, to tell you the truth, and the last thing the Canucks would want is to pass on Virtanen and see him blossom into a Milan Lucic-type on another team.

However, as Rhys will be perfectly content to tell you, Virtanen was the third highest-scorer on his line, and got help thanks to a career season from overager Brady Brassart. Banking on Virtanen’s 45-goal campaign as being fully indicative of his talent isn’t a safe bet, and Virtanen will spend the summer recovering from shoulder surgery.

So would I, but it is more of a continuity thing. The Leafs took a huge step forward this year and appear to be in a good position going forward with prospects, roster players and cap position.

I just really don't know what is attributable to Dubas and I don't think any of us do.
