I have to give every credit to the Sens for capitalizing on their chances and being generally drab and awful to play against. But that Penguins defense is flat out revolting. Hainsey and Maatta look (frank)ing awful. Worse than Hunwick awful.

All the other 30 teams in the NHL teams are privately bemoaning the very clear realization that their chances of winning the Stanley Cup are finished for the next decade. As a Leaf fan I know that the Stanley Cup parade will be in Toronto for the next 10-15 years. I think that's a clear headed, proper and not at all dillusional prediction. Marner, Nylander and Matthews will all be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame within the next 4 years.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that trading an immense but still developing talent like Nylander violates virtually every tenet of the philosophy upon which the Shanaplan stands.

The Leafs need D, but overpaying for someone else's defensemen isnt the way to fill that need.

Leafs don't trade Bozak or JVR.

They use prospects and picks to grab a Dman from Anaheim. I am guessing Bracco or Kapanen + Nielsen + pick for one of their D they can't protect. It has to make financial sense for Anaheim and it has to be guys that.

I think the Leafs want that forward depth that they had last year even if it means JVR and Bozak walking for nothing.
