Konecny had 28 points, I am really not that high on him. So did Hyman (granted older and Matthews) but he is probably a mid level prospect like Kapanen, we didnt pass on a gem

i like the development of Dermott so far, he could turn into one of those reliable but not flashy D every team needs.

We dont know yet if it was a good trade(s)

I would prefer to just pick those guys up as UFAs or acquire them for garbage.

Giving up a 1st round pick is overpaying for a reliable but not flashy D.

But what small moves did he specifically do outside of having influence on picking up Dermott and bracco?

I think having the 3 players they ended up with is better at this point than whoever they would have taken at 25 (Probably Dermott anyways) if that was there guy. We know it wasnt Konecny

Not when you're going to win the cup and pick 31st overall.

I would say even more than that when it comes to actually knowing who is making what decisions or talking about or considering anything.

We are back to the whole concept of "insiders". Only an true insider would know anything and I don't think there is such a thing outside of the obvious people involved.

A late first round pick doesn't even guarantee that you'll get a regular NHLer.

Any everyday NHLer you get for a late 1st round is a win.
