You can't fault the flyers at the time. It was clear they were infatuated with Rinaldo and wanted to load up on more. Thus Z2 was born and a bizarre number of unforseen and unimaginable circumstances led to Rinaldo being out of the league. Flyers have the worst luck

Who do you think has a better chance at a good NHL career, Oskar Lindblom or Sam Lafferty?

He's trying to make the point that Pittsburgh could have selected Lindblom over him, just as we selected Ghoul over Guentzel. It's a false equivalency and has no logical bearing on not liking the Ghoul pick. Picks boom, picks bust, picks mehhhhhh. Comes with the territory. But when a pick looks moronic on draft day, rarely there's any good to come of it.

FWIW Guentzel had 73 points in 60 games (USHL is lower scoring too) his draft year.....next highest on his team had 41 points in 59 games. Kind of fits the profile for a lottery ticket pick, knocked only for size. Ghoul had 27 points in 64 games as the 13th highest scoring player on his team at age 19. Bjorkstrand is the real gripe, combined with a drafting outlook that placed value on Ghoul. But you can't emptily argue against that.

He had a slightly disappointing year, mild skating issues, fell........surprisingly far even on draft day.

I think you have a guilty conscience. My reply is not a false equivalency since it was not in response to anything you posted here, and nothing to do with the Ghoulbourne discussion.

I never understood some of these picks. Like you said, the Flyers reached for him. He had top upside of fourth line plugger. You don't waste a pick for those players.

Nothing? So you just blurted it out for no reason, despite responding to a post about Goulbourne? I gave you too much credit then for attempting a cogent argument. Now I do have a guilty conscience.

You should have a guilty conscience for making it personal rather than simply about hockey and thinking that everything is about you. If I wanted to address something you said, I would reply directly to you. Read back and see if maybe you can find something that my post may be about! It was simply about all teams make mistakes and make bad picks, not just the Flyers and you can look back in hindsight and see how this team made a bad pick and vice versa when comparing two teams drafting records. It's that simple.

Hold on, let me check youtube and some mocks.

I mean, despite me having a real job and not living in my mom's basement, I have more than ample time to scout hundreds of junior, NCAA, and European players extensively.
