The draft is just a month away. Who are some 2nd-3rd round sleepers that people are excited for? - hereticpride
Matthew Strome. He's big, is a LW, and has the last name Strome. That's gotta count for something. Oh, and he seems to be okay at hockey, too.
MacKenzie Entwistle has a funny name, so that puts him up there for me, too. |

It's funny because Matt Strome is the worst of the 3 Strome brothers |

I personally like William Lockwood (RW), Hudson Elynuik (C), and Brandon Gignac (C)
Wouldnt mind taking a defenseman there though and I like Joshua Mahura (D) |

I have watched them both a ton, but I completely forget what position they play and who they play for so could you remind me? |

A good GM can evaluate a coach without looking at a team's record. Just because a team has a disappointing year doesn't mean the coach needs to be fired. - PhillySportsGuy
Any good GM would take the team's record and performance into consideration when determining the status of the current coach. There are many factors that come into play. |

Yeah, continuity of management and coaching provides the opportunity to push forward a singular vision/approach. If players can't buy in to the culture, they are the ones to go. The ones that do buy in, the culture becomes cult-ish and self-perpetuating.
Teams that are on a continual hire/fire cycle (Leafs, Flyers, Canadiens, Rangers, etc) are constantly spinning their wheels. Those teams may have historical cultures, but team culture is completely absent.
I hope Hexy is here for a long time, and I hope Hak improves and justifies a long look too. It would be a lot better for the team's outlook, especially for the kids. - Tomahawk

Here is my not-so-full draft... after the 3rd round there just arent a ton of credible in depth reports available so most is just projection stuff... For the first three rounds however... Heres from watching and reading..
1st pick (2nd overall)-Nolan Patrick (C- 6'3'' 203) I honestly believe he is the best player in the draft, and the fact that he has been THE #1 guy for 3-4 years now has done him a disservice in regards to the hesitancy the Devils have in drafting him. Thank you Devils.. Flyers just got their future #1 Center.
2nd pick (44th overall)- one of these three would make me happy.
Jonah Gadjovich (LW- 6'2 205) Big, strong, aggitating PF who has a really solid shot. Reminds me a bit of Wade Allison except on the opposite wing.
Alexandre Texier (6' 185 C). This kid has been the best French prospect to come around in a long time. He has more of a boom or bust label because of the French leagues, but if he sides towards the boom he could be a hell of a steal.
Josh Brook- (D 6'2" 185) Brook has continued to climb the rankings all year. He has a good combination of size and speed, and does a very solid job in all three zones. He should project to be a 4-6 guy.
3rd pick (74th overall)- Mason Shaw (C 5'8" 185) Kid is hands down one of the best playmaking pivots in the draft. He would need to fall a little bit for the Flyers to get him as he is probably a later 2nd, early third round pick.
4th pick (77th overall) Tyler Steenbergen (C 5'11 185) Yes this is his second year as a draft eligible player, but he led the WHL in points, has an incredible release and has a lot of offensive tools. Kinda reminds me a bit of Kyle Wellwood honestly. This is the type of pick I prefer to the knuckle-dragging meat head Goulbourne types... |

I have zero problem repeating myself on the topic.
He was a Stanley Cup winning Coach four years before we signed him. He stood us to a Stanley Cup Final his first season and after things were looking so great for us. Say what you want about his system but his system is fast skating and produces goals. The Flyers knew what they were getting when they hired him and instead traded for Nicholas Grossmann and Luke Schenn five months apart. Fast forward to today, he might visit another Stanley Cup Final.
Peter Laviolette is one of the top five greatest coaches in the Flyers history. |

After Shero, Keenan and Hitch it drops off pretty fast. Quinn and Murray would be the only other 2 too besides Lavi to have a shot at the top 5. |
