I think some coaches are better for different stages in team's builds. For instance, if you have a generally young team, you may want a coach known for good player development (i.e. AHL/CHL/NCAA coaches(. Similarly, if you have a more veteran team, you may opt for a coach who better identifies with veterans or has a more proven winning record (i.e. Lavi). I'm not saying that a coach can't do both, but I can kinda see a team wanting to make a change if they feel they need to get over the hump, similarly to Pittsburgh last year.

Bill - whats the deal with Mike Vecchione ?
Did you already do a write up on him and I missed it?
Is he projected to start on our 4th line ? Is he the next Matt Read?
Thanks

- MrBigglesworth

If he has a pair of future 20-plus goal seasons for the Flyers, ala Read, they will be thrilled. He will be in the mix to compete for an NHL job out of camp, possibly at center or possibly being asked to play a wing. No more and no less has been promised. Could start out on the Phantoms if he doesn't make the Flyers' opening night roster.

If playing hockey didn't involve skating, shooting, passing, and positional play, Ron Hainsey would be an adequate player.

Agreed. I think GMs are too quick to can coaches. Being able to have a good coach for a long time is such a huge advantage. Everything becomes streamlined and it becomes easier to develop players.

Changing coaches every 2-3 years is just bad for culture.

In Alabama, it's illegal to carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket at any time.

Bill,
Has he been signed? If memory serves me correctly, he burned his entire ELC already.

He is a restricted free agent. A formality that he gets re-signed.

When Propp had the puck on his stick in crunch time good things could happen. He was always solid!

The draft is just a month away. Who are some 2nd-3rd round sleepers that people are excited for?

Hold on, let me check youtube and some mocks.

I mean, despite me having a real job and not living in my mom's basement, I have more than ample time to scout hundreds of junior, NCAA, and European players extensively.

No hearing for Wingels.

If I'm a Pittsburgh player, I'm throwing a hard, blatant elbow and Hoffman first chance I get tomorrow. It's obviously not a play that can be penalized.

Its tough to predict where guys are gonna end up going, but a guy like Ty Lewis could be a good add in the 3rd if he doesnt continue to climb. I watched him play a bit with the Wheat Kings when I watched this year... He could end up being a middle six guy if all goes in his favor. He is aggressive too which I like.

Ob and Mono provided some names 2 threads back on the 2nd and 3rd page.

One of my favorite sleepers is Alexsi Heponiemi. Check out Kailer Yamamoto too. He's more of a 1st/2nd round guy though.

Versalainen (prob misspelled) and Ratcliffe are 2 guys I like, but neither will likely make it past the 1st round.
