Juolevi isn't a bust but I think most of us here had Sergachev as the best defence man in the draft. I still think so.

Virtanen did self implode but Jim still interviewed the kid. Also I had 4 guys I would have taken before Jake at 5. Most here did and everyone was kind of like Wtf just happened when Jake was taken.

I hope they all prove me wrong and JB looks like a GM genius in the long run but smart money says no.

Personally I think Serg isn't even in the top 3 for D out of the draft. I'd disagree that most had him as the top D. Juolevi was the consensus number 1 D from his draft

He is 2-3 on first round picks. Not sure why you are concerned we would take a player projected to go at 15 at 5th overall
- CanuckDon

Because Benning is stupid enough to do it because he is a local kid.

Lots of media report that was an Aquillini forced pick.

Pretty clueless if you think Ras is on their radar. He isn't. Some team will pick Rasmussen at 12th overall and fans will be screaming that we didn't pick the local star in 5 years

Juolevi is solid, don't know why people think this guy has regressed. He looks a lot like Olli Maata (the lanky/Skilled European that uses his reach). I like Sergachev though, but they are very different players, wish we could have drafted both

Juolevi is a better skater than Maata. Juolevi put up the same points without a star team. Played better defensively as well. Not a regression

I'm okay with drafting Rasmussen in the top 10.... but considering how MANY people just hate this kid/ are not impressed by his advanced stats concerns me, 5 on 5 play is pretty much 90% of the game so I get where people are getting at.

I really thought the Oilers were going to draft him, so it was a solid pick, just thought it odd lately seeing him clumped with Virtanen.

If he progresses better than Maata then I'll be really happy, I hope he replaces Edler sooner rather than later.

Calgary was also going to draft Juolevi at 6. People saying it was a reach don't know wat they are talking about. Juolevi is about the furthest thing possible to a Virtanen type pick

Agreed. What I don't get though is people trash Rasmussen because of those stats, yet speak highly of Mittlestadt, who has poor 5v5 stats as well.

Tkachuk/Puljujarvi/Juolevi are all some pretty good pieces, and I would have a hard time picking between any of them.

Makes Columbus look all the more foolish for picking Dubois imo, I'm glad they did or JB probably would have picked him

Tkachuk looks the best now but that may change in two years. We needed D. PLD is still going to be a stud imo

If multiple media sources are reporting it then there is a chance it may be true.

We also need to remember JV BO and Sven scored 9 points in the game they played together before they replace him with Vrbata

Since he came here he has had a lot of hurdles. He was left a mess. Juolevi is not a bust for me. I think it was a good pick because we need to change out the D.

Vrtanen self imploded so I don't blame JB . But I do get your frustration. This is why I want a nice safe pick like Glass

- VANTEL

Juolevi and Boeser are solid…solid picks.

JV the jury is out…not ready to toss the towel in yet see what Green can push him to accomplish.

He is a hockey guy but I don't think he puts enough effort or time into it to say that he forced the pick. He isn't out there scouting. Other than the Canucks I doubt he watches tape. He isn't involved enough to have an informed decision. Maybe I am wrong but having a singular focus makes people successful and I don't think hockey is his main focus. Its a hobby much like ours. Thats not to say you can't be good at it but we aren't doing it everyday.
