Agreed, as soon as we trade him we are looking for a player similar to replace him, and they are just not easy to find...problem is can he be trusted off ice, and is he part of the locker room chemistry problems we hear about.

With Okposo going to be back, Kane is a goner at some point.

There is no way they sign another forward to a big deal after ROR, Okposo, and Eichel coming up.

If he wants a short term deal, sure. But he will cash in on a 6-7 year 6 mil deal, and it won't be with us

So we trade him for a top 4 defenseman, we will have to pay him also....somebody gonna get paid. My point is when we trade him we are immediately looking for his replacement. Why not keep what we have, he was with out a doubt our best winger last year..off ice who knows

I don't get why people think Kane's production is hard to replace.

He's averaged 39 points here over 2 years.

He's had a few great stretches, and some wildly inconsistent ones.

Hes going to be a guy some other team overpays

I would trade him for a Top 3 D-man in a Texas minute. Remember, a year ago (after his bar incident during the draft), people on this forum were giving him away for virtually nothing. At the time, I threw out there a Kane for Virtanen (Canucks) trade. Virtanen spent most of the year on the Canucks minor league team.

Exactly.

I'd love to have him if he was already here long term, and our defense was in tact.

I've thought of this idea

Vegas selects a D man that's exposed (a decent one) and then trades him to Buffalo for Kane, and signs Kane long term

Who replaces him? I would like the forward in system that does what he does. Speed, Size, Toughness and goal scoring????

Find someone. It won't be hard.

I mean come on, he's not putting up 60-70 point 30 goal seasons.

He's a 20-25 goal 40 point guy who's about to get paid like a 35 goal scorer. No thanks

It wont be hard.

Cmon there are just tons of 20-25goal scoring power forwards with the speed, and toughness and hustle he shows on ice. Name one thats available.

Trading him because he is an a-hole off the ice I understand, trading him because we can't afford him I understand...but to say he will be easy to replace is naive.

no, but there are several forwards available who can score north of 40 points and can play 82 games a year.

The dude has played in exactly 0 NHL playoff games.

Propping him up to be some example of what this team needs and can't replace is a hard sell at this point

He's a decent top 6 player. Those caliber players change teams every year

He was 145th in scoring while having his best year in like 5 or 6 years

We will survive his departure

What do playoff games have to do with this, he has played a bad teams.

Every team needs players that play the game the way Kane does, hence the interest in him when he is made available, production not the only thing he brings... you expect him to bring back a quality return if we trade him but think he will be easy to replace...I don't think that .

vanek in 06-07 with 28?

He had a great year in that regards.

He doesn't do that every year though.

On a team that was horrible in 5 x 5 scoring, but GMJB will just ask other teams for their 25 goal scorers and they will gladly trade us them with out having to give up any of those valuable assets you think GMTM squandered, or overpay in free agency and this will be replaced.

25 goal scorers are traded all the time

The point isn't to just trade Kane because hes awful, the point is to attempt to fix an area of greater need, and avoid a potential albatross contract.

We are decent at wing without Kane
