One Kane is bad enough for the brand, the Hawks don't need a second one.

Actually out 3 months so pretty serious.

Probably speared or slashed himself because nobody on the Ducks would do something like that even in the lawless, no rule book NHL playoffs.

Fair value for what you get out of him: half a season of productive hockey.

Edit: meant the 2.5mil, not 5.2

He does, with a modified NTC. He has to provide a list of teams if they want to trade him.

He showed his crybaby true colors whining to the press about Kesler. Nobody wants to see any player, especially a very talented one, get injured. But, this is the playoffs and hacks like Neal, McLeod, and Sissons have given plenty of cheap shots all playoffs. Just go out and battle, don't cry to the press bc Ryan Kesler has been playing hard against you.

Video of the injury. Looks like an unintended or sneaky slash across the back of the thigh as they were going to boards.

Time to stop all of these absoutely unrealistic scenarios involving the move of any players with NMCs.

They asked for them for a reason, and they have to consent/provide a list in order to move. Just not seeing ANY of them moving - certainly not to a crap team - unless they truly expect a better personal outcome for themselves.

To "force" a player out via any kind of pressure undoes the years of progress made by the FO to make CHI a destination team to play for.

And all of the reasons people give for why certain NMC players need to be moved (Seabrook and Hossa are old and slower, Crawford is not elite, etc) are potential reasons why no team in contention would spend that kind of cap space for declining assets - certainly not without salary and/or equally unimpactful players back.

I am not at all confident any significant moves will be made. The fact that SB has already been shopping in Europe sure smells like a stab at trying to be cap compliant via cheap contracts for players with more experience than what they have in their system, rather than significant player moves.

When the series started I thought I'd be pulling for the Predators because there's a lot to like about that team, especially when compared to the Ducks. But for me, once the series returned to Nashville, I couldn't help but feel happy each time the Ducks scored. There's something so annoying about that Nashville home crowd with their high school-level chants and apparent lack of a basic knowledge of the game - it turns me off to the entire team.

When a fan base turns me off to the point where I'm rooting for the other team that dresses Kesler and Bieksa - you know it's bad.

One question I do have though is if there is any scenario under which moving Panarin can include the recipient team being responsible for his bonuses....

Now $6MM in space becomes what....~$8.5MM.....

As I'm watching these playoffs I'm thinking the NHL is back to the 'garage league' Mario Lemieux referred to it as.

Horsebleep refereeing, crosschecks, slashes, spears, high sticks of which few are called until the officials decide to apply the rule book for a couple of minutes in he game.

Maybe the Preds can sign Matt Cooke in time for tomorrow night's game.

Wow remember seeing that wondered what happened. Looking at it again, it was pretty vicious, knee to the thigh, stick on the back of the neck as Manson takes him into the boards.

from the video the hit was high crosscheck to the back...no where near the thigh...hard to see how that injury happened...

a player with both hand on the stick parallel to the ice; initiates contact with handsarms extended = automatic minor every time; easy call to make...

I believe they'd have to pay him the full $3,475,00 for the 2017/18 season and $2,000,000 for the 2018/19 season but the cap hit would remain $3,083,333 for each season.
- walleyeb1

he is due the 2 mil bonus on july 1st so if he is traded July 2nd the new team would only of 1,475,000 for next year but with a cap hit of 3.08. My biggest problem with stans contracts are guys that he might have to trade bickell, sharp, Craw, were all very lighlty front loaded where kane Teows and Seabs are front loaded to the max. He needs to remember that 1/2 the teams are more budget teams then cap teams. Craw could be owed like 12 mil for his last 3 years instead of 15. makes him much easier to move. I think Kruger will be east to trade to a budget contender after july 1st.

You're right, the NHL has really gotten bad. Other complaints: 1) Very little scoring; 2) The salary cap, where as soon as you come to like a young player over a few years he can't be resigned, or a team that has become a champion has to be dismantled; 3) The exciting skilled star players, rather than being protected by enforcing the rules, are mugged, especially during the playoffs; 4) head shots are often overlooked as being "hockey plays"; 5) ridiculous video reviews of goalie interference that still get the call wrong half the time, and video reviews frequently overturning goals because of offsides by a millimeter occurring long before the goal was scored. Plenty of other complaints. I'm trying to remember why I've followed this league as long as I have.

I don't see them dealing Hjamarsson and I hope they don't regardless. Personally, I see them dealing 2-3 forwards, TVR, prospects . . . but never know
- John Jaeckel

Hate to say this, but one of the $10.5M cap hits have to go, for the right return. And before the pitchforks come out, folks will have to realize just how top heavy this team is, how stagnant the cap is, and just how far they are from competing for a cup. This is where SB has to earn his paycheck and BEGIN to get out of the NMC rut he got himself into.
