Looks like our initial diagnosis was right.

What did Ovie have? Anyone see the picture of his thigh and he was playing in the playoffs. Probably not the same.

But how did Nashville win last night with their two best faceoff centers were out and Fisher was their captain? hmmmm It is callled a team game, but this team has depth and heart and some luck.

FYI - Manson injured both johansen and fischer. And both hits seem harmless or accidental like.

I would sure like some D like this Manson kid. With the game being where its at, we need some no BS nasty protecting the front of the net. D that will punish opposing forwards in the corners and on the wall. As many have said, the Hawks need an attitude adjustment. Q's stick check ballet aint cutting it anymore.

Just guessing but I'm thinking that thigh was already injured and the Ducks knew it.

I would love a mean and tough blueliner like Manson but your last sentence is my fear of why we may likely see more of the same next season no matter who our defensemen are. If Q remains coach, he's not going to change his system. He didn't during the playoffs and hasn't at any point during the last several seasons when the team has struggled (regular season or otherwise).

Having Manson or someone similar would be awesome but I fear we'd get a toned down version of him, not the version we see today. Not all of the time, but Q does have a history of not using the gifts and tools of his players properly. If you gave Q a bunch of hammers to bang in some nails, he wouldn't use the hammers properly or not even use them at all.

Agreed.....Big, Bad, Bald Bill White. ....the definition of an all star stay at home defenceman.
He was a GREAT Blackhawk.

Not knocking your preference, but I'd rather have Landeskog. He's roughly the same price ($500K cheaper I think) and brings better leadership than Neal. Plus, he's Swedish which seems to be a major plus for the people running hockey ops and personnel.

Im betting Q is on a SHORT leash to start the season. If this team struggles early, Id expect a quick HC change with Dineen still here.

Yeah, getting the most points in the Western Conference with a roster half full of kids is a terrible depth to sink to.
- RollingPuck

I see you were duped like certain other bloggers on this most RS points BS. You must be a Caps fan in disguise. The 'Hawks were absolutely dismantled in a four-game PO sweep. POs is the season that counts. Next time you're at UC, look up in the rafters and admire that 1991 President's Trophy Champions banner. Then ask yourself how the POs went.

They must mean the new progressive definition of "racist", which is basically anyone that disagrees with them.

Your post used a word/s with a latin root. Be watchful of cultural appropriation.

He's feeling for the puck - can't find it.

Especially on that last one.

In the blink of an eye, it seems, Ottawa has lead legs.*

Sooooo, are we still supposed to model the Hawks after the Senators?

Still cant figure out why Q could not find a way to use Trevor Daley. Further salt in the wound known as the Patrick Sharp trade fiasco. Guess Q would rather have a Rob Scuderi type.

I couldn't agree more. Not only struggle early, but also, if they come out with those soft no compete first periods at the UC again. This year's team has to stop that mentality of only playing aggressive hockey when they get behind by a goal or two at home. Where's that kick ass heavy forecheck hockey that home ice advantage should bring every game in our building. It starts with coaching. Opposing teams have no fear playing at the UC. Hopefully that will change with some personnel moves too.

Yup, it's system, not talent, that separates Pittsburgh from Chicago right now. Penguins are constantly cycling players to the slot, and they always try to get them the puck.

Hawks camp out on the boards and try shots from there or cross-ice passes with no traffic.

same for his team mates esp in their own zone...every goal was off a turnover and a couple of brutal ones...

still like the pens in this series...

pens vs preds....cya preds...pens will repeat...
