Curious, what would Drouin + Johnson + 14th get you in 1 package?

For SY to make that trade the return would be insane, no team would ever agree to it.

So would the value be something around OEL, or a D of similar strength? I dont even know OELs value tbh.

The Vatanen & Theodore option isn't the worst idea but i fear we would be overpaying a bit, however i don't see the ducks moving two of there Dman right now especially considering Theodore is exempt from expansion. We could make the cap hit work under there current contracts tho that is for sure.

In all honesty I haven't given much thought to this scenario as it seems very unlikely that we move both of them. If both were moved then the cap space that exists currently would be a much different picture then it appears now. However it would allow us to take a different approach in regards to the type of return we get. If i had my way drouin would be untradeable, watching him live is electric (no pun intended).

I would say Vatanen/Fowler/Manson and a guy like Silvferberg. Dealing both TJ and JD would leave a hole up front.

I think Manson would be the least likely of the 3, wouldn't produce the offense from the blue line that SY is looking for like the other 2 can.

In that package you return what I consider a top 4 D, a middle 6 winger, and a youngish depth D man all while freeing up cap. This is much more intriguing than the 1 for 1 idea of trading Johnson for a D man.

Fair enough.

Sure- trade it. Hell, trade it and Johnson... hell... trade it + Johnson + Drouin... if you can get a good return in the form of a young D-man.

Outside of Kuch, Heddy, Stralman, Palat and Vasy, I really don't care who you trade - just get us a young D-man worth his salt.

Out of curiosity why do you consider palat untradeable? Just haven't seen this opinion much and am interested in the thought process behind it.

Because he's the 2nd coming of Marian Hossa. Trading that is a bad idea.

As long as he doesnt become the contract burden that hossa is to the hawks now i would agree. I highly doubt he is moved because of the 2way style he plays, in a perfect world none of the RFAs are lost (besides sustr god willing we wont make that mistake) but considering the fact that we cant seem to get good enough defensive play as a unit, trading Palat seems like the worst move we can make out of the RFAs.

Agree. As long we dont offer him a 15 year deal, im all game that he stays.

Well obviously under the current CBA that cant happen but you see my point, i expect him to take some sort of a home town discount as long as there is decent term in the deal.
