Carter Rowney was the best Penguin on the ice last night.
Overall I didn't think we played poorly. I actually thought we had the puck more than Ottawa.. difference being that they had a 3 minute surge of pressure which led to 3 goals, and we had multiple 3 minute surges of pressure which led to 0 goals.
Reminds me of the 2010 Habs. A period would have 10 scoring chances for the pens, and 2 scoring chances for the Habs and the score would be 2-0 Montreal. |

I dont understand the coaches love for Hainsey. It's ok to play him if you don't have any options but at least try someone else there? |

one bad game and youre ready to jump ship?
Honestly, the whole team sh!t the bed - Fakepartofme
Who's jumping ship?
As Pens fans we've been through alot more than being down 2 games to 1 in the playoffs...and the players even more so.
EDIT: sorry ...i guess you meant jump ship on the goalie, not the team |

Wow we were the Pickup Penguins last night and it hurt. If I were a fly on the wall in the Penguins locker room as well I would be a very loud fly as I would be screaming BREAK UP THE DPAIR OF 8 AND 65! i Know our right side is weak right now, but I think we should consider Domoulin-Cole, Streit-Ruwhedal, Hainsey-Daley. Also, we are in the depressive end of Fleury's goaltending and I think it may be time to give Murray a start for a game I think Pittsburgh could really use a calming presence in net which Murray provides. Hopefully with how bad we played last night in Game 4 hopefully we play as good as we did in Game 7 vs Washington. |

3. Ruhwedel
4. Cole

Or game 2 of this series.
I think you see that effort again because they're down. They're Jeckyll/Hide in non urgent/urgent games. |

One thing I learned yesterday is Dion Phaneuf can do some serious damage. And if you dont believe me check out the netflix show "the ranch" and see what he did to his wife. She used to be smokin hot and now she just looks like the mother of Dion Phaneufs spawn. It's just sad really. I wonder what they talk about at the dinner table? Probably things like what each traffic sign symbol means and if there is any more pascetti. I bet DIon is slightly more dull to talk to than Chris Cornell is today. |

So far this series reminds me more of the one vs the Bruins in 2013 than any other. ECF and they cant score enough to win, can barely score at all even thouh theyre getting the chances. Sens playing a stingy D style but can also apply the pressure thick when need be.

Goaltending should really be the least important decision after last night. Actually, disappointed because much of the article focused on really small issues.
Streit had a nice corsi. He also played less than 10 minutes at ES mostly mostly in a sheltered role when the game was out of hand. Also had a terrible coverage breakdown which led to a goal, although to be fair most of the defensemen did. Deserves to play another game though.
Bonino played the least of any forward at ES last night with Hagelin the only guy close. They're already the 4th line. What are they going to do, demote Rowney or Cullen? Play Sundqvist? When Archibald is being looked at as a savior, there are problems.
Here's a stat the 14 skaters who dressed last night not named Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, and Guentzel have a combined 6 goals in the playoffs. 2 are from Bonino, Hainsey is the only defenseman with one and those are 2 guys not earning high marks. The 3 players injured in game 2 have 11.I
Team has problems all over the place. Playing Fleury, whose gotten them this far, or Murray is the least of them. |

Agreed MatStrat.. Bruins series maybe a better example.
So frustrating, and I'm not saying Ottawa didn't deserve to win last night, but it just seemed that every bounce went their way, every rebound popped to their sticks. They scored a goal off Fleurys skate and in from behind the net, they score a goal that fleury saved, then it hit off Ian Coles skate, then bounces back off of Fleurys leg and in.
Yet we are infront of Craig Anderson throwing pucks through the crease and shooting through screens, and not one puck wants to take a favorable bounce for us. |

FedsStammer.. not denying your top 5 advanced metrics stats, but anyone who watched the game can concede that Rowney was working harder than any other Penguin. He was given 18 mins of ice time as a 4th liner, he was banging bodies, forechecking hard, stealing pucks, and winning battles. Unfortunately he was unable to put his work onto the score sheet because he doesn't have great puck skills. |

OTT figured out how to beat Fleury. Shhhhh - it is a secret, but if you play a lot from behind the net, it makes it difficult for goalies, Fleury especially.
Murray is structurally more sound in Net, and he doesn't let in as many goals.

I'm firmly in the don't go away from Fleury camp. He's been great all post season and 'tending is a cerebral/rhythm position. Going to a guy who hasn't played hockey in a month when you have a guy who's been standing tall game in and game out save for two clunkers is fundamentally flawed. |
