Hopefully Kempny puts on his Salesman's hat and convinces his countryman Rutta to sign here!!

Re-signing Kempny first or at the same time would certainly help.

I disagree with your premise. I believe Hartmann (1yr NHL experience), Panarin (2yrs NHL experience), Panik (3 yrs NHL experience) have potential to get better and that will in fact make the team better.

The same for Kempny, Schmaltz, Forsling, Hino, Hayden, Kero, and Motte.

Take a look at Ottawa. Half their team makes less than $2mil. Without a lot of superstar players they are giving the Pens fits (and already between the Bruins and Rangers)

Pittsburgh won last year with a lot of good young role players.

Stan Bowman, is that you?

EDIT:

This is LITERALLY exactly what I'm expecting Bowman to say after he makes virtually no major moves this summer. Do you write Bowman's press releases?

Their young new players had three years to bake in the lower leagues before they came up.

I wasn't as impressed with Kempny as some other fans were, but I still think Stan should bring him back.

He needs time to round out the rough spots, but that guy has wheels, a good shot and will throw some lumber. He just did not get enough time. Depending on what happens trade wise for our big 3, I would easily slot Kempny as a 4/5 guy and let him play all year. What other choices are there?

I think his skating is his biggest issue. Solid straight line speed but in my view he struggled with his edge work and agility/change of direction trying to stay with the shifty forwards in the NHL. Physical tools are there but he needs to get quicker feet and better decision making.

That is solved by playing time and experience. Errors made in October/November tend to be ironed out by Spring.

Would Chicago consider trading Toews to Winnipeg? Chicago appears to be in cap hell.

TO CHI: Bryan Little, 2017 1st Round Pick, and Brendan Lemieux

TO WPG: Jonathan Toews

Just a suggestion.....

Not always, hundreds of guys that had size and a hard shot but could never react quickly enough mentally and/or physically to the pace of NHL hockey. TWT with Kempny.

Hey, but thanks for enlightening me on the Hawks' needs. What else ya got? Wait, no.

You could use a center like Howdy Doody

Really what you could learn from Ottawa is not to hand out No Trade Contracts like Halloween Candy. The price you pay for success but things are going to get worse each year for you. Painted into a corner unless Bowman can unload a contract.

Edit: This was in regards to the comment on the first page about Q under-achieving and Boucher always overachieving....

This comment is asinine. Q is the second winningest coach in NHL history and he has three Cups. How many active NHL coaches have won 3 cups? How many since expansion 50 years ago?. It's a short list comprised entirely of Hall of Famers, other than Q. Guy Boucher? None, if you're counting. To dismiss what Q has meant to the success of this franchise is outrageous.

That said, that doesn't mean he's the right guy going forward. I think that's a separate argument and while I don't think this is the year to do it, it is a conversation that should be on the radar.

I heard a rumor that Kane wants to go home and that Seabrook wants to go to Edmonton

I was actually basing it more on stats:

Bryan Little had 21 goals, 26 assists for 47 points in 59 games, which equals .797 ppg.

Jonathan Toews had 21 goals, 37 assists for 58 points in 72 games, which equals .806 ppg.

Similar ppg stats and the 1st and Lemieux would be added in for his playoff pedigree.

Kane put his place up for sale and Seabrook expressed his desire to finish his career with an up and coming team in his native Alberta
