Hjalmarsson, Panarin, Anisimov and Kruger to Colorado for Barrie, Duchene, Landeskog and a 3rd.
- walter34

I wouldn't see so quick to take so many pieces from Colorado. That team has a lot of talent but something is clearly wrong with that environment. I don't know if it's the players, coaches, management or call of them but I wouldn't want to introduce any negativity to the Hawks camp.

Could be an interesting signing.
- DarthKane

I don't know what side he plays, but he has a R stick. So guessing right side. Probably a "replacement/upgrade" for Rozy or TVR, realistically.

You could use all those things for sure but surprised a top 4 Dman is not on your list.
- VopatsRash

Hey, but thanks for enlightening me on the Hawks' needs. What else ya got? Wait, no.

Part of the reason they were bad at PK and PP was . . . FO. Look at FO% in 2015 playoffs when they had Toews, Kruger (healthy) and Vermette. And the dividends it paid especially late in SCF games when the Hawks had leads. TB could do nothing because they never had the puck.

I get that face-offs are partially a team effort. But the ability of the guys taking the draws MATTERS.

And of course there are other factors, and the Hawks have tried to "offset" it. And their PK has sucked, O-zoen possession has not been as good.

They don't need to pay a guy $5 million to win draws. At the same time, they need a secondary option (or two). I will also tell you, before Kruger improved back in 12-13, Toews was getting worn out with no secondary option. Fact.

- John Jaeckel

Correct as usual. Vermette = 1.75M, arguably best at the Dot in NHL

Change of scenery might be just what they need. With leaders in the room like Toews, Seabrook, Keith and Hossa they'd get in line pretty quick. Checks some boxes but would hate to lose Hammer. With the clauses in all these contracts, deals like these are becoming extinct.

We have to be thankful that Hockey does not have the circus the NBA has to deal with with regard to a certain parent of a yet to be drafted player who seems to besmirch women and people of size so far...

Why wouldn't the Hawks direct almost all of this - the players need to learn how to play the Hawks system.
- StLBravesFan

I'm guessing something he did stood out to them that made him a desireable hire. Just wondering what that might have been. Good at developing D-men? Offensive structure?

Separate the stupid front office decision from the on-ice situation.

The Preds have build a solid team through the draft and key trades. I have to give them credit for what they've done. People rag on PK but I think he's great for the game, he's the new JR. The Preds have been playing some outstanding hockey and I think they at least deserve a shot at the Cup.

I would love to see the Sens beat the Preds in the Final. That would be the perfect ending to a crazy season for Anderson.

- DarthKane

Agreed. Also, Anderson, Wingels and Dzingel are all Chicago boys so the Cup will still come to Chicago this summer if Ottawa wins.

Packaging Kruger and Anisimov to Vegas would be interesting...pure Cap Dump and helps them compete immediately with 3 solid Centers in Shipyachov-Anisimov-Kruger. Then Stan can sign a couple cheap Centers with size and better on Draws than 15. As I've continued to state, Kane and Panarin just need a big body that can do the dirty work and be 50% on draws and they will be just fine and around 1.0 PPG each without Anisimov. Kero I think can be a competent 3C with Hossa and Harman on his wings if no other option is acquired.
- EnzoD

Steve Ott should be available. 55% this year and angry enough to stand in front of the net... I'm being sarcastic, but not really. Could you imagine a Panarin-Ott-Kane line

i hate Ott's on-ice antics, but i was in favor of snagging him at the deadline just for his prowess at the dot and his fiestiness...

So you're saying Stan is drafting/signing about seven more Swedes this summer?

Schmaltz: Hey Landy, sorry for me getting my head in the way of your shoulder.

Landenskog: Don't let it happen again

Schmaltz: You know what you can come over here and have my top 6 opportunity.

Is there a reason Q wont try 72 with 19? How bout a top line of 72 19 14 and a second line of 38 15 88? Kane is Kane and the guy creates with whoever he plays with. 72 has the ability to open up space for 19.

Might be fun but it does not make the team better. They need more talent.

Tried a few times. He doesn't complement Toews well, or vice versa. He likes to criss cross and hang back near the top of the circle.

He plays really well with Hossa and Anisimov. They should keep the mitts off the blender and let Kane revitalize the first line. Shmaltz on the LW?

Is Kempny an RFA or an UFA? Would sure like to see him get more time this season.

I disagree with your premise. I believe Hartmann (1yr NHL experience), Panarin (2yrs NHL experience), Panik (3 yrs NHL experience) have potential to get better and that will in fact make the team better.

The same for Kempny, Schmaltz, Forsling, Hino, Hayden, Kero, and Motte.

Take a look at Ottawa. Half their team makes less than $2mil. Without a lot of superstar players they are giving the Pens fits (and already between the Bruins and Rangers)

Pittsburgh won last year with a lot of good young role players.
