Honestly, I’d overpay UFA’s on 2 year deals all summer long. Dip into the LTIR well to get guys that could turn us into a contender.

But I wouldn’t offer alzner $6M for even 1 year.

Alzner the Caps #1 guy? I see he has the most 5v5 mins but I didnt look at the teams injury list or anything.

I think Ek meant the Leafs will go over to his house and ask him 6 times per day if he will sign with the Leafs

Scouting the Ducks defenders fo sho.

Nashville might lose poop stains you can get anywhere in UFA like Jarnkrok or Wilson vs Anaheim losing potentially Silfverberg, Rackell or one of their prime defenders.

If it's Anaheim, it's most likely Vatanen, and if it's Nashville, it's Ellis. Both are righties, and the little guys are always undervalued, which makes them good value pick ups.

Definitely does not make any sense. They have spent the last 2-3 years, trying to rid themselves of contracts that are anchors and have done a great job of getting out of them.. I don't see how a reward for all that hard work would be to add another terrible contract.

A 1 yr deal for $6M, maybe, why not? but they won't do anything long term for a 4-5-6 guy like Alzner

Oh some one will....he's probably still got 4-5 years left... they'll let the next GM worry about the last 2.

Since his contract is arguably the best in the league, I would think he's untouchable.
