If you're one of those dudes who jerks off to other ppl's lists, why the (frank) even bother debating players...
- DrChristianTroy

I was curious the reasoning behind you thinking they were overrated, you provided nothing so there's not much of an argument

For sure. I've watched a number of the guys myself against the royals with cheese here in Victoria. Rasmussen is a no. I really liked yamamoto. Thought Foote was not visible, but he also didnt get scored on... so that's a plus, I saw the wheatkings but princess patrick was out , I liked popagaev that kid can really shoot if he drops to 33 I hope JB picks him (LW too). I watch a poop tonne of tape, read stats and go to games. I'm not trying to discredit anyone, but I rely on the pro-scouts personally.

Interesting fact: Central scouting has Klim Kostin as the #1 european skater. I wonder if JB takes a look as he is a center/LW.

What's your opinion on Mathew Phillips ?
Obviously has skill, but his size could hurt him moving forward imo

I don't know who benning will take, but I bet it will be unexpected. So I agree. People should prep for that

Heiskanen got a HUGE bump thanks to Vesalainen going beastmode & padding his assist column & +/- @ the u18's... yet Vesalainen didn't get that same push off his own domination. Kinda shows where the two markets (D/F) are depth wise in this draft.

I can't see his game translating, if I'm being honest. He does go to the tough areas but he is a very small(slight) 5'6. Definetly great stick skills, skating and shot. If they keep changing the rules to protect players I guess it could happen, smaller guys seem to be able to make it.

Yeah I look at him as either being a steal in the draft or never playing 100 games at the NHL level ...can only have so many small skilled guys anyways ...I like taking risks like that late in the draft ...it kinda reminds me how teams used to use their last picks in the draft to take 6'7 D men with slow foot speed hoping they could get lucky and his skating improved

Yah, his late season rise through the rankings is ridiculous. Some team is going to be somewhat disappointed when he turns out to be nothing more than a middling top 4 guy, ala Maata.

Heiskanan helped his stock by playing a lot of minutes in that tourney and defending well. While I agree the points were helped, that's secondary to what scouts are looking for which is an ability to defend, skate, first-pass, possession, poise. Vesalainen did sweet (frank) all at the juniors, but was a standout at the U18 I agree. His numbers at frolunda are also nothing special. This has hurt his value more than anything, but I do think he will be good.

Nashvilles draft history is unreal. In two years they basically rounded out their d-core by choosing....
Ellis 11th
Josi 38th
Ekholm 102nd overall

Plus they have found some other gems in the later rounds
Arvidsson 112th
Smith 98th
Rinne 258th
Weber 49th

One thing I noticed is that they usually keep their D in junior for the full 4 years then at least 2 half seasons in the A before gradually bringing them into the lineup.

Patience sucks...

- Brooks_Light

every player on that squad is a good skater.

The NHL requires speed. And they are using it to their advantage. Great team on the forcheck.

They have real Simpletons on their team. Not a ton of "Spectacualr" talent. But the system they use combined with there speed makes them a threat on a nightly basis.

I pray the Canucks introduce a two way speed game this coming year. Even though their vets are slow as fukk.

I don't think he is where they thought he would be after his first year ...had some bad injury luck ...and hadn't looked that appealing these playoffs

They need Edler the enforcer. You can't win if you don't have a Swede Dman

I 100% approve of Liljegren. The forwards are really underwhelming and I feel like 33rd OA can be packaged with another pick/prospect/spare tire to move up and select Klim Kostin around 14th OA
