What? That's not where ticks come from.

I feel like this is a trap.

They freak me the hell out and they're all around where I live. I've never gotten one but I just found like 3 live ones on my dog (after I put on flea/tick medicine). I'm not sure how I'm gonna handle a full summer of this

Especially having long hair and a beard. I'm always paranoid there will be one hiding in my hair.

Don't let him run through long grass. Keep him on a leash. This area is lousy with them, especially where you are near the water, deer go down and get a drink and the ticks fall off and chill until the next warm thing comes along.

It's better than it used to be, there are a lot less deer than there used to be, if you can believe it. NT police had a cull over 3 years 10-12 years ago, they killed a couple hundred.

I'd avoid the grass all together but he only poops in the tall grass. I don't know why

And also this is just from me walking him along the edge of the woods/grass. Not even in it

The only sort of good thing is that Lyme disease is fairly low in the area for the amount of deer/ticks we have.

Just be on the lookout for red circle"bullseye" rashes.

It just makes me super anxious. Serious diseases and things burrowing into my skin are like two of my biggest fears so them together is ridiculous

Like this is one thing that would make me cut my hair

Just don't pull them out with tweezers, you'll just decapitate them and their heads will stay burrowed.

Check the expiration. And then call a vet(you won't have to pay, just ask them what the best brand is) or go online and look to see what the best brand is.

I've never had one on me thankfully. If I did I might just cut the whole chunk of skin right off

Another thing that makes me paranoid is, I've only seen the "big" ones. It makes me worry I'm missing the small ones

You should be ok, if you're looking for them, they're pretty easy to spot.

No, but you just said they're on your dog. You still have to be careful how you remove them from him.

Everyone I've found on my dog is pre-burrow. But I did find a bump/scab on his head. It doesn't really look like a tick but idk

Welcome to the club.

A few years ago my mom got one in the head. That's why I'm so paranoid about them getting in my hair/beard
