It's all relative. I mean some people felt that Looch would score 30/70 playing on Mcdavids wing, despite common sense telling them how unlikely this was even playing with Mcdavid.
Eberle is what he is. Basically a pure offence guy that vanishes against big, physical teams. I've always liked him but he was beyond invisible in the playoffs and his regular season production has plateaued in the 20/50 range. I"m still hoping he can get on board with new team philosophy but he might be too ingrained in the old system. In any case, I doubt he's back next year. Draisaitl and Mcdavids upcoming contracts have all but assured that. - TheTaoOfSemenko

So do I.
That's why I love ideas like that.
Just like Rielly for RNH a couple years ago

The problem with trading Price is that he's still a UFA-to-be in a year.
There is absolutely no way you're going to get anything close to his real value to our team by trading him today.
Habs need to resign Price, he's their best player and will give a decent roster a chance to remain competitive for years to come. Gotta keep him and hope his play + an improved roster will give the Habs the cup.... it's their best chance really... for the next 4-5 years at least. - Scabeh
yeah, I think the assumption would have to be that he re-signs with Winnipeg.
I don't imagine that is something he would be interested in.

Come on. Winnipeg is every bit as beautiful, exciting and cosmopolitan as Montreal. |

She would hate going to an Oilers game. As soon as the PA says his name the entire crowd says "LOOOOOOCH". |

And even if Winnipeg didn't float his boat, it's just a short car ride from either Kenora or Grand Forks |

... or trade Hall for a #4 D, and had almost an entire fan base convinced it was a good trade. - Aetherial
Larsson played top minutes most of the year.
Im sure the Oilers dont miss Halls injuries and crazy passes that often got picked off.
Ballsy trade that worked out. |

Wow, I feel the opposite. I would far rather have RNH.
RNH was behind Draisatl and McDavid and therefore had his role changed.
Eberle was give opportunity with those two guys and still poop the bed. - Aetherial
Hell no.
Eberle simply had a bad playoffs. RNH hasnt been great at all the past two seasons.
Eberle needs to improve as well. |

I actually think a Kane for Fowler deal really makes sense for both teams.

I'm with you. So are most Oilers fans. RNH brings a lot more to the table. We were all expecting Eberle to revive his captain clutch days of the WJC. Instead we witnessed him pull off a Copperfield-esque vanishing act. |

Not sure I agree, Larsson scored 19 pts playing big minutes on a team that has McDavid. A well placed rock would score twenty pts in that situation. I think you meant to say his offensive incompetence was well hidden by the fact they had McDavid.

His lack offensive acumen is hardly a hidden fact. Check out his qualcomp type numbers if you get a chance. Guy is a beast of a shutdown dman and has a pronounced mean streak. Mcdavid has almost literally nothing to do with how he handles the blueline, and if anything he makes Mcdavids life easier because the puck doesn't often spend time in their own zone when he's on the ice. |

has anyone looked at how our cap will look for signing Matthews/Marner/Nylander after we pay 6.5 for Alzner for 7 years?
Oh wait, never mind, only two of Matthews/Marner/Nylander will have to be re-signed since the other one will be traded to Vancouver for Tanev.

Tanev is a #1 D man. He'll need to be signed to a 8 year 8 million dollar deal too.
Matthews will demand 12 million / yr and I'm not confident that leaves us any money to keep Marner.
Marner to Habs for Byron + Emelin + 3rd |

Gonna be interesting in a couple more years to see what they all get assuming they continue to play like they have. |

Nope not at all. He's not a big point getter, never has been. If thats what you're expecting than you will were misinformed and will be disappointed.
He's got great shut ability and his a time cruncher....thats the reason they acquired him.
He could afford to shoot the puck more, sure...but he's more of a shut down dman.
