Byebye Russell. Also looking forward to Chia pushing forward with giving Larsson PP time. He was noted as having the offensive ability to drive power plays back in Sweden (done so very successfully), until the Devils played him like complete shutdown defender (Deboer era). From time to time, Larsson has show flashes of good, if not great offensive displays. Only problem is that he is too cautious with his style of play [thanks a lot NJ]. If he can just tinker his mindset, we might be seeing a different type of Larsson, a more dynamic Larsson.

If not evident already, the cheapest option is already within the system. Go with Larsson as the go to guy to run the 2nd PP unit and see how it goes. Worst case scenario is that Sekera is out 9 months and our overall PP structure will not be that great until Christmas. Best case scenario, we find ourselves a RHD that can be the QB on the PP for years to come.

In 1-3 years, you'll be looking at Bear joining the NHL, whom has been tagged as being able to be that RHD PP QB option. By then, things will be more stable in terms of depth for EDM's defense.

So much Russell hate!! I happen to think there are way worse defencemen than him out there. Team player, all guts, tough as nails, clears the zone effectively (regardless of what some of you say), leadership qualities! It is not all about Corsi and whatever else a lot of you want to continually crucify Russell for. He is a solid defenceman - easily bottom 6 pairing and still able to play more minutes and move up to 3-4 defenceman when the need arises.
