Over the last 3 days Vilardi seems to be encroaching toward that #2 pick in some mocks.
doubt Hextall will go there but will be interesting to see how things play out - Crimsoninja

Only way that happens is if Nico goes 1 and Hextall gets some bad news from Nolan's docs. Very unlikely, and I will be pissed.
Lol at everyone saying Nolan is the "better fit" probably based on highlight videos from the tube. Both players are perfect fits as either will fill their biggest need (prospect with legit 1C potential). |

And there's that one that has Glass going first, so, yeah, mock drafts ftw. |

the NHL should really look into holding some sort of tournament during these months to fill time |

Can you explain the better fit part. I feel like the better player is the better fit, so if hischier is the better player, he would then be the better fit. - PhillySportsGuy
Hischier or bust. |

I don't think this Flyers team is deep enough at forward for any fan to look down their collective noses at adding either Patrick or Hischier. - johndewar
Totally agree. Either one will be a welcome addition. I do kind of expect that NJ takes Hischier because of Patrick's injuries and Nj's desperate need for creative talent at F. |

For lack of better words, does anyone just not care who we get? I'm just thrilled we actually get one of the two (assuming Nico / Nolan go 1 and 2). I've tried hard to pick a favorite over the other but it's been impossible. Both fit a huge need but I just can't give an edge to one over the other. - arichardson22
A better way of looking at it, perhaps? Imagine that the Flyers finished worst in the NHL, by a large margin. The Devils finished 2nd worst. Ever since December, you've been looking forward to who the #1 prospect was due to your team's terrible record. On lottery night, the Devils get lucky and win the lottery while the Flyers draft 2nd.
Do you still not care who you get?
I'm not saying you should or shouldn't; I just think that it might inspire you to think differently. My point being, people are still thankful to be in this position. |

Poulin was the man! Played playoff games with cracked ribs, a broken thumb, dislocated shoulders and probably other injuries we never knew about.
In the pantheon of Flyer's Captains, only Clarke ranks above Mr. Class, Dave Poulin - BiggE
Eh, he was no Mike Richards, who was no Kevin Dineen. |

My two cents:
If there is a 1A/1B debate for the top-2 picks, you take the player who's been touted longer, and that is Patrick. He's the one who's had all of the pressure on him since he was 15, and he's the one who has (injuries aside) lived up to them. Same way that Legwand was the 1B to Lecavalier's 1A. |

This better fit argument has never made sense to me either. I'm not sure why Patrick is a better fit in theory, if they both pan out as hoped. A team with big 2-way centers who needs scoring and dynamic qualities badly (while still getting a 2-way center) seems the fit to me.
That said, theories aside, I'm not convinced who is the better player. It really is that close to me where they each bring different things to the table. Can't lose here. |
