More effective than winning Cups?
- Blazed

His team won cups, but Niedermayer was hamstrung under their rigid system.

Put him on the 80's Oilers, and you would have seen him at his best.

That doesn't really make sense to me he and Stevens were linchpin to NJD success and what success it was. Who cares if he scored 15 more points and won less? He was fantastic defensively as well.

For sure, to be fair I actually liked Carrick's game, a lot. I think he could end being a very solid top 4 defensemen in his career similar to Gardiner but less flash more grit.

Still is likely to stapled to the bench for long stretches though so a veteran D is needed big time. Watching Gardiner and Rielly go back to back on every shift was tiring just to watch.

- Blazed

I "liked" Carrick too but he fell off a lot for me.

I liked his grittiness, he could moved the puck well and he could skate, then it seems he lost a step.

If he can get it back, I'm in. If not, he could become the worst parts of Gardiner......and that would suck.

Obviously I'm very happy to have moved on from Phaneuf and all the things good things that happened because of it.

That said he looked great tonight for Ottawa.

That's just because you're comparing with Gardiner.
It's all relative

He's always been better as a 2nd pairing PP threat; stupid money they threw at him ruined him in Calgary... that or the coke. Or Iginla's semen.

Pens lost Rust and Schultz last night.

Do they even have enough players on their roster to play a full lineup at this point?

It's insane how many players they lost to injury....

And yet they keep on winning.

Before getting crushed by whoever wins the west.

What a story for him this year.

Went from a guy not supposed to play and obviously moving elsewhere after the playoffs to being one of the big reasons they're still playing today....

Still moving elsewhere next season but it's a great "last stand" for him in Pittsburgh.

Doesn't he have a no-movement clause? How will they protect Murray?

Liking the Grundstrom kid.

(I'm watching the Marlies for D hopefuls...Dermott looks really good and close....Nelson could be a keeper too but needs a bit more time.)

Seems to have hands and grit, impressive so far to hope right into the playoffs and get a few goals, he looks to be a gamer.

It seems they've already talked to him about it.

Before game 7 vs the caps, he said it himself: "If we lose... this is my last game in Pittsburgh.."

I expect him to be traded to Vegas in a deal that involves Vegas not picking anyone else or he'll simply waive his NMC and get picked.

I don't want to be that bitter fan who can't give a team credit for playing well.

I do actually give the Sens credit for playing with heart and playing a disciplined, stifling system. There is a very real chance they win the cup.

The truth is, I have never seen a team get this many breaks. Last minute fluke scramble goals, winning every overtime (except 1?), other teams ringing the post. The worst part is the injuries. The Bruins were decimated and now so are the Pens. I can't imagine the Sens winning a single game against a healthy Pens team. Crosby is definitely not himself. I am not even sure he should be out there.

The Karlsson thing is getting annoying. Dude, your foot is sore, probably really sore. Every time there is a camera on him we get the wincing in agony face. but watch him when there is no Iso camera on him and there is no wincing. Watch him play and there is no difficulty skating. There is a huge difference between being injured, and being hurt.

I agree with everything you just wrote my good friend.

And Crosby shouldn't be playing, his play before/after the hit is so diffrent, no one is going to tell me the guy is alright.

Hopefully he doesn't get hit again this year.... could get ugly.

A lot of luck, especially injury luck is required to win the cup in the most grueling pro sport playoffs. Ottawa has been given a HUGE gift this year with the way the playoffs have unfolded.

If they don't do it this year, they can forget about it for a long time. That core is nowhere near cup caliber and not young enough to expect big improvement. Other teams that poop the bed last year are not likely to do that again.

This is Ottawa's window.

I actually wonder what will happen in the off-season with him.

I always laugh at people saying players are only at x%, but in this case I think it applies. I don't even think we are seeing 50% of Crosby. He literally looks like he is applying at about 25%.

Ugh.... imagine if the Leafs could have got 1 point against Columbus... good chance they may have bumped the Sens with their speed - would have been close but as always Buds all day!

yeah. I actually feel bad for the guy watching him out there and seeing the look on his face at the bench.

I kind of wish he would just shut it down.
