Soon is totally engaged. It's been a long time since I've seen him play like this.

Coaches who teach the 1-1-3 should be castrated.

Also strange seeing Jacques Martin on the bench analyzing his old team.

Part of me wants to agree but honestly you don't think this exact Sens team with a bit more high end talent couldn't go all the way with 1-1-3?

I feel bad for Karlsson, he's like a thoroughbread with a plow attached to him under that coach.

I'm only flicking back and forth but I haven't seen Ottawa touch the puck yet.

Marlies force game 7.

Grundstrom and Nielsen with the goals

- walshyleafsfan

Liking the Grundstrom kid.

(I'm watching the Marlies for D hopefuls...Dermott looks really good and close....Nelson could be a keeper too but needs a bit more time.)

Depends on what kind of talent, soft talent maybe not. Add a Ryan Kesler to this team and it could be closer.

I think Dermott cracks the roster next season.

Overly defensive systems are talent nullifiers for both teams on the ice, so if you're a highly talented team, and you're employing one, you're doing it wrong.

He looks good....better than Carrick to me, so I hope so.

WE NEED D.

Nullifiers sure I suppose but not eliminators. All the top players on both teams have limited chances. The Cup winning Devils teams had some talented players.

For sure, to be fair I actually liked Carrick's game, a lot. I think he could end being a very solid top 4 defensemen in his career similar to Gardiner but less flash more grit.

Still is likely to stapled to the bench for long stretches though so a veteran D is needed big time. Watching Gardiner and Rielly go back to back on every shift was tiring just to watch.

Niedermayer would have been even more effective than he was in New Jersey if he played for a more offensive team. It would have been interesting to see how effective their system would have been at the highest levels without Brodeur between the pipes.
